How good is it without Lava Burst? Maybe we should just stick to Resto until level 75 and dungeon and BG level?

just get dual spec and try out
Ele’s still goona be great, especially in pvp, chain lightning has such a short cooldown, still 30% haste from flame shock dispel, instant ghost wolf and knock!

Im actually thinking about PvPing the entire way 68-70 now that BG xp is going live.
Biggest weakness is we won’t have access to stoneclaw glyph. In BGs we will be monsters, but dueling/skirms we will be weak.

This and the lack of Lava Burst. Ele still has punching power but Lava Burst is like hitting with brass knuckles on top of it.
You can absolutely hand someone a nap with prepatch ele. But Lava Burst puts the 
on it.

Oh snap, i didnt know we didnt have access to the glyph. Im assuming its a higher level glyph then?
That, or requires Northrend mats.
I could be wrong, but pretty sure it is learnt from “Book of Glyph Mastery” which we cannot access in pre-patch.
Also worth noting that the lack of guaranteed crit on ele mastery definitely makes our burst less consistent.
If you can get s4 gear plus maybe the lightning capacitor from kara, and totem from mech n/h and with the flame shock dot maybe the caster dps trinket from mgt h you should be fine for dps.
You can get dual spec and since elemental shamans don’t need that much hit due to alot of it being from totems and talents if you get the gear I told you of, you should be fine healing with dual spec.
Ele no longer gets hit from totems in prepatch, and talented hit goes from 10% to 3%.
