Either all of it is okay, or none of it is okay

ffxiv is a cult I think, I’ve seen players on here talk about how they don’t like ffxiv think it’s trash and want the threads about them to stop. Then like a month later they’ll be talking about how cool FFXIV is and how it has such a fun community, good story and journey. They literally got reprogrammed.

That’s because FFXIV is in a good state. For all the mounts and glamours in their store, they have just high or higher effort items you can get in game.

That’s because wow said “oh here’s those tier sets that have been gone since the end of Legion, you’re excited right? well have this generic same colored crap for all classes. but hey that’s ok come look at this new store mog that’s $20 and look how unique it looks. it’s crystal clear we put more effort into this paid mog than we put into the new tier sets”.

That’s why. That’s exactly why.

Yes I can.

If wow was in as good of a state as FFXIV, I wouldn’t bat an eye at them releasing store stuff. I didn’t care about the celestial steed because wow was good when it released.

It’s almost like, when a game is good, people change their minds. Who knew that could happen??

Big difference between Blizzard and SE is that SE has banned advertisements from the party finder entirely. Players can ask for help…but can not be sold to.

Another difference is SE has occasional shop updates however does not advertise in the same blatant way. (One day after a patch release with a $60 service is blatant)

But yes you are correct I don’t like it in either game.

That was the OP’s point though, if the measure about how bad or good a game is, is being predicated upon in-store purchases or items, then it either has to be the measure for all games, or none of them.

The fact that in-store purchases or items should = good or bad with respect to the games overall quality is a stupid mindset no matter what way you look at it.

How else will the Pizza Parlor know the customer hates them if the customer doesn’t buy one of their largest pizzas and hate-eats it in front of them glaring them right in the eyes?

Not sure who you’re arguing against, because there are tons of people in the FFXIV community who argue against things being sold on the Mogstation.

The difference is that Final Fantasy seems to be doing really well at the moment.

I’d wager most folks wouldn’t be quite as miffed were it WoW in a better state of affairs.

The general philosophy of people ok with the FFXIV store but against the WoW store is that store items are ok…IF the game itself is good. They view a company benefiting from the store while their game is in a declining period like giving a child dessert for skipping school.

Should have ended with …“Put that in your pipe and smoke it!”

…That doesn’t make the FF14’s MTX any better. MTX is still MTX.

Again, it doesn’t really matter what state the game is in. If a MTX is bad in one premium priced game, it’s all bad in all premium priced games. :man_shrugging:

Store advertisements take up a large banner on the launcher immediately upon new cash shop additions, and a monthly storage fee offer is found permanently right below the login.

I’m not sure what server you’re on, but the last time I idled around the citystate MBs there would sometimes be more goldseller/boost spam in the public channel than actual people talking.

Truth. There are.

I think FF14 commentary in WoW forums is the new way to troll WoW players, i dont see it as anything more than that.

FF14: makes an amazing game, developers communicate and are transparent about where the store money goes, stuff in the store is not better than what you can get in game

WoW: game is garbage, developers barely communicate, store is there for obvious greed and milking of whales to keep the game afloat, stuff in the store is far better than anything you can get in game

There’s your difference.

i agree to an extent. the only big difference is they try so hard to make incredibly intricate clothing in game on ffxiv, that the store mogs are literally not any better, just different. they have odd/goofy stuff in game too, so store odd/goofy stuff is literally not any odder/goofier, just different. this is why i suggest wow release recolors of store mounts/mogs in-game as quest rewards.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree here.

When your alleged evidentiary “difference” is subjective, one can be forgiven in thinking you just might have an agenda.

WoW has been bleeding players since July, and FFXIV has been picking most of them up. I wonder why that is.

I dont care why that is, that’s not the discussion here.
