Edit Mode not working in Exile's Reach

Edit Mode is grayed out in Exile’s Reach, forcing you to use the god awful default UI without the ability to change it.

Just made another toon at level 1 outside of Exile’s Reach, using their starting zone and that toon is able to use Edit Mode.

So this is either overlooked or a bug. Please tell me it’s one of the two and not intentional.

Same for me as well. I’m assuming it is intentional, especially if it works in other zones. Hoping this will change if it is on purpose.

I would think that is probably intentional as Exiles Reach is suppose to be a ‘new player’ experience and they wouldn’t want to overwhelm new players with maybe accidently messing up their UI? That is my best guess.

Complete the Battle for Azeroth intro mission that takes you into Boralus/Zuldazar, or opt into Timewalking once you complete Exile’s Reach. Edit mode unlocks after those two.

My level 10 toon in Stormwind had the same issue, edit mode grayed out. I rode out of Stormwind & I got a popup alert “ride too far from Stormwinds and you will end the tutorial”. I clicked end the turorial & edit mode now works. No idea what the tutorial was.

Found a reddit post from user Kite874:

/run GameMenuButtonEditMode:Enable()

press escape to open the main menu, where you see the greyed out button.paste the script in the chatbox and hit enter.the grey button should now turn red and you can use it again.

for some reason blizz blocks you from entering edit mode untill you complete exiles reach

Found this earlier today from an Beta post from a while ago where they had it bug out and worked for me

Thank you so much!! Copy+paste worked for me, I can actually set up my bars and interface while in Exile’s Reach now. Ty for saving me a lot of time and frustration.

Has anyone run into an issue with this solution? I’ve used it once with no problem (and thank you, Sahen, for posting it!) but last night when I used it, it kicked me out of the character. Now I can’t log back in with them. :sob: If I hadn’t mailed them a bunch of stuff, I’d just delete and remake. Instead I had to submit a ticket, which will likely take forever to be dealt with.

That doesn’t work.

I guess they needed more control over the new player experience.

It just worked for me. Did you have the Esc menu open when you submitted the command?

I continue to believe that using these scripts to change the functionality of the game is risky. There are rules against interfering with the game and this skirts very close (if not into) dangerous territory. If the game is set up so that you cannot do a certain thing and you use a script to make that possible, its about as close as you can get to an exploit.

However if your game is not behaving as it should (for example, Edit Mode stays greyed out when it should be available) then that is obviously a bug and should be reported as such, either here or in the Technical forum.

there is nothing even remotely risky.

sometimes the game needs to be told what to do, via direct commands.
