The script from the other help topic worked the last time I started a new alt, but it’s not working now.
Blizz must’ve “fixed” it.
And now my alt is in SW and lvl 11 AND NO EDIT MODE. I have overlapping action bars, obliterated bags, and my chat bar is below my screen level.
have you tried ask9ing in Tech Support?
I would try a full UI reset. Delete or rename your WTF, cache and interface folders. Then reopen battle net and log into Warcraft. Make sure all addons are turned off.
The edit mode reappears when you leave the SW intro quests (thru BFA intro etc I think) after exiting the Islands .
If you have already done the intro stuff on that account, then go back to the start of SW and drop quest and talk to the quest giver again and skip intro. If you cannot do that, complete the intro and edit mode will reappear.
I am pretty sure I have seen this previously on my alts.
Edit: Adding, if you did not grab that initial quest in SW or Org go back to the main gate and talk to that quest giver again. Do the skip and you have edit mode and chromie time, etc

Absolutely right. WHY don’t we get this option to begin with. Are users who are creating new alts too stupid to use the Edit Mode?

its not a GOOD fix. you shouldnt need to at least.
But there is a command you can enter even at lvl 1 in the exiles reach zone to open the edit mode. even if its greyed out via the portrait right click.
if anyone see’s and needs it.
I suggest save it as a macro for when you make alts.

I’m not sure if that’s the same as the script from the old post, but the old one didn’t work.
What did “work” was putting up with the awful screen until my alt left the island AND either declined (skip) the tour, or finished it.
