EDIT: I guess that bolvar picture was legit

Ner’zul is gone all that remains are ecos of a shattered soul.

Blizz likely decided the orange eyes didn’t work well and they want to recapture the nostalgia from Arthas.

I mean more of the malevolence that is the Lich King that was built from Ner’zhul, not necessarily Ner’zhul the individual anymore. Arthas and Ner’zhul may be gone, but that’s definitely not an empty helmet Bolvar put on.

Ideally that makes him an anti-hero in the plot, no longer a Paladin but the Bolvar he was balancing against what remains of the other personalities.

I definitely think an anti-hero Bolvar in the same vein as what Sylvanas used to be is far more interesting than a simple villainous one. We’ve already had an evil Lich King, let’s try something new.

I think Bolvar is likely to be an ally, just a very morally dubious one. Basically like he was in Legion… except someone (i.e. Sylvanas) has done something that impacts him personally to an extent he feels a need to get off his throne and take care of things himself instead of relying on an intermediary.

I’m also in the “Good Guy” Bolvar camp especially with Taelia around. She’ll serve as his anchor, I’m sure.

I tend to agree. I think it would be a monumental mistake on Blizzard’s part to have him become bad. You either completely invalidate the whole ‘there must always be a Lich King’ or you create a revolving door of Lich Kings that we have to kill. Add to that, Bolvar whole thing was that he would not break. That incorruptibility is kind of the point of his story.

I think the most likely thing is either Sylvanas start stealing scourge or she allies with broken off members of the scourge, like for example Kel’thuzard. That would challenge his role as ‘jailor of the damned.’ And that would force him to act.

This is a very long video, but feels really on point to the conversation.

Who says they won’t do that and have Sylvanas become the Lich Queen? That seems like a Blizzard thing to do. Yasss Queen slaaaaaaay

Until they have Sylvanas kill her because they have to have the rule of cool for Sylvanas.

Did you play Legion? He’s already bad. It’s just a question of how bad.

He seems most likely to be framed as an anti-hero as Sylvanas and whatever she has a pact with in the shadowlands takes our actual villain slot.

I think the more important question is if he’s an Anti Villain or Anti Hero? It’s an important distinction.

Choose one.

Edit: Oh I misread what you were saying. Nevermind.

So hes either on the warpath or somethings rocked up on his doorstep to kick his head in

Lich Queen Sylvanas incoming. Mark it down.

I’d puke. Anything that prevents Sylvanas from paying for her crimes at this point is just crap writing.
