Echoing Void Nerf

I get it. It was doing too much damage. It is an aoe that scales with HP. This meant tanks were just doing too much damage in runs. Fair enough. Let’s reduce the damage contribution of tanks.

Why?

Were we about to have an influx of tanks?

Were tanks going to feel like they were powerful?

Is this a problem?

Sure, nearly 40% of my damage in a mythic run was due to Echoing Void. That’s a lot.

So what? Every group on groupfinder is looking for tanks. There aren’t enough tanks. Why not let tanks feel like they’re more than meat shields. Why not allow tanks to contribute significantly to dps?

Was there a fear dps characters wouldn’t be desired? No. Was there a worry Mythics would become too trivial? C’mon, an extra 15k dps isn’t going to do that.

I thought the point in corruption was it would make you feel powerful. I thought it was supposed to have a risk/reward element that the risk would still be worth carrying a lot of corruption.

Corruption should be fun. WoW should be fun. It’s a game. The issue isn’t echoing void was too powerful. It was being abused, sure, but why not make other corruption work well with other specs. Make damage based upon primary stat. Make all Mastery = corruption damage. ADD something. Use your genius brains at Blizzard to increase the value of other items.

Do something fun! Pushing us to carry a corruption that adds a numerical value to a secondary stat (yawn) isn’t fun.

TL/DR: Make all corruption powerful and don’t nerf tanks since tanks are already hard to come by.

The day there’s no one complaining on GD is the day the game ends.

‘I mean, tanks could take damage and give damage. Why not give tanks the ability to heal so we can solo everything?’

One powerful corruption is going to provoke anyone to suddenly swap to a tank role.

It did with me. I now main tank. Due 100% to this. Yes. It is.

I tank a lot more Mythic+ since I got a good Echoing Void. I’m curious to see how it goes tonight.

Its blizzards marketing model…Oh 45min to find a tank for a run, lets nerf them so even harder to come by. Haven’t touched my prot warrior since that fiasco.

Unfortunately, this makes anything other than the highest rank of echoing void 100% useless. If this nerf went hand-in-hand with a removal of all 1st and 2nd tier corrupted effect (as they feel like a slap in the face when you know better could have dropped and you just had bad luck, again) then it’d be less painful. But as it stands, any tank without max echoing void will feel significantly less powerful today. That’s not fun.

Yeah because it would be dead the only time people would stop then LOL!

If this one effect is making people switch roles to tanking, that is a clear indication that something is just flat our broken about the role to begin with. Fix that and you won’t need an OP effect to encourage people to play the role.

This points to a heavy degree of ignorance on your part and heavily undermines everything else you’re arguing. In many cases, the tier 2 corrupted effect is the most ‘efficient’ version in damage per corruption. If you get a tier 2 version you just…wear another piece of corrupted gear. A low tier corruption is not bad by any means - you can only wear but so much. Having access to a variety of low tier corruptions is essential to ensure you’re wearing as much as you can while staying below your threshold.

However, they are not overhauling all tank roles to make them more enticing. They are simply removing the single enticing corruption. OP? Why make that argument? How many dps classes have been complaining it has been too easy to find tanks now and their wait time is too short. How many healers are mad their tanks are out damaging them?

This is a solution to a problem no one wanted or complained about. If you were complaining, the problem is you. Why does your amount of fun from a game come from how much more damage you do than the guy tanking your instance?

Making tank specs less appealing by nerfing a huge damage contributor helps no one.

Bear tanking became fun for a few days with echoing void…suddenly we were like prot warriors (even though prot warriors with echoing void were like mini raid bosses).

uhm tanks were toping dps charts in dungeons aand single target fights they shouldnt be able to , what makes you so special that you get to be a tank and top dps ? the nerf is fair imo , your a DH damn well broken as it is.

If you were being out damaged by your tank, then you are really, really bad. Or terribly under-geared. DPS do 60k+ dps with ease in mythics, tanks do 34-40k.

Possibly higher damage with huge overpulls? Okay, then nerf the number of mobs impacted by echoing void if that’s the issue (again, this doesn’t help anyone at all, just makes dps feel better about their epeen).

In single target? If you can’t beat the tank in single target you really need to get gud.

Except that isn’t what they are doing. The effect isn’t part of your spec, which is why not every tank has it. It was an unbalanced item that made it very valuable to tanking roles.

I give you the Blizzard Dev ID badge…

The people complaining because they haven’t gotten a piece of echoing void are again not having the issue addressed by nerfing it.

Make corruption re-rollable. Allow players easier access to specific corruptions based upon role. There’s tons of solutions that help. This ones doe not help.

i wasnt referring to myself you moron , but if you take a second to watch the players who are actually good youll see the dmg merters and watch tanks do 60-90 k sometimes. just because you can pull big numbers as a tank doesnt mean good tanks cant
