Echoing void needs an AOE nerf on tanks

Nah, here’s the run I was referring to. I even afk’d for a bit because I had to take care of something. Were the other two dps kind of poorly performing, considering they were around my item level? Sure.

Here’s my DH’s progress so far as DPS, I’m pretty sure I’m not getting out dpsed by the tank. I’m only using mindflay tentacle and CLF btw:

Looks to me like you had more of a hunter fire mage problem 18.8k Eeeew what was he 410 ilvl?

We had a lot of afk/DC issues, if I recall correctly. On bosses, they were still doing alright though. We still made time, somehow lol.

Point is, it shows that 31.5% of that tank’s dps was from a lucky RNG proc on an item. Remove that proc and he would be doing 16.52k dps, instead of 28.6k.

They just need to nerf corruption based on role. Tanks should get 1% and dps should get 5-8%

Giving tanks and dps same amount of 2% of max health for some corruption , makes it way stronger for tank.

Just take 2% from 380K health pool and from 550k

Wait so afkers and DC’s would have cost you your run if NOT for the tank helping carry that run but ya nerf him?

Seems more like you should be saying “Thank God that DK had EV or we would have been screwed” “Thanks DK for the run, look me up on your next key!”

Yeah because a tank having to deal with the negative effects of corruption while only gaining a couple % positive effects will make tanking ever so much fun.

Oh I already had a much higher key in for the week, I couldn’t have cared less if we timed it or not. I was just farming for corruption.

If youre tanking with anything more than 39 corruption, you’re doing it wrong.

Even at 33 corruption the eye and slow are annoying. I would probably drop to under 5 corruption if the dps gain was only 2% or something just so I never had the effects.

So your playing a DH and complaining about keeping up with tank damage. Now I have heard it all.

If you’ve paid attention, this was not about my DH. This was when I was on my mage. I’ve stated what characters I play on, at a high level, and people are just assuming that I’m somehow getting beaten on AoE on my DH, which is not the case.

So your mage has issues but your DH is overpowered and you want to nerf tanks. Got it.

No, my mage doesn’t have issues. I’ve seen other classes having a hard time though on AoE. Yes, my havoc DH is pretty powerful in AoE, which is to be expected from an AoE oriented dps spec. My veng spec, however, is not and I don’t use EV on them because I knew it would get nerfed and/or helped it get nerfed.

You must play with awful people. In my keys I have dps doing 70 to 80 k overall and my single echoing void puts me between 33k and 40k depending on kiting etc.

You sound like a disgruntling e-wife that attention moved off you onto someone else.

I’m a 464 Ilvl vengeance DH with a rank 2 echoing void. My dps on aoe pulls usually settles around 30k. My hp is between 780k-880k depending on stam buffs, and 1.3m when I meta. I carried a BM hunter friend through some keys and he was 425 ilvl with no corruption and he was out dpsing me. As a tank I’m ok not doing a whole lot of damage but with echoing void I was happier tanking cause it felt like I was contributing more. There is no excuse to be out dpsed by a tank. Sure echoing void is 30% of my damage but honestly who cares. Watch some high key streams and look at Hpals pop wings and do 80k dps. I don’t exactly see anyone up in arms about that. If anything I’m for removing echoing voids from dps classes to give more tanks a reason to play tank.

Yeah, I just checked a good portion of your top runs and everyone is using the FOTM overpowered essences. Even your healers are using double EV lol… Almost everyone has EV or TD on them, if it’s not those, it’s IS.

I’ll check back in a week or two to see how high you manage to push after they nerf them.

Are you mad that Amazon, one of the top companies in the world, didn’t get subsidized by a city when it already pays $0 in federal taxes per year? Not to mention it still building the HQ without the subsidies? Poor little thing, probably an R or Libertarian :joy: :joy: :joy:

This line of thinking is illogical. I don’t think the same crowds are complaining about both.

I’ll use myself as an example. Loved titanforging/warforging. Why?

Because it was more common to get some sort of item upgrade. It made helping friends/guildies with lower content have the possibility of rewarding gear at your ilvl if you outgeared it. It made farming higher keys feel good because there was also the chance of those big TF’s and getting a minor upgrade. If you did a ton of higher keys you could compete on ilvl with mythic raiders.

Corruption sucks. It doesn’t do ANY of these things.

The drop rate is so low that there’s just no added feeling of excitement when looting. It doesn’t incentivize helping people in lower content because there’s no ilvl upgrades, so even if it drops at 455 ilvl, you’re still going to eventually need to farm it at 465. In fact I actively avoid lower content now because i’m scared i’ll finally get a decent corruption, but on a low ilvl piece. And I know that’s not how it works mathematically, but it still feels bad.

You can’t compete with raiders on ilvl. Even plebs doing heroic have quickly leapt 5-10ilvls ahead. This gap is closing as there’s more weekly chests and more groups doing 15’s etc. But it still meant the last few weeks have felt disgusting.

And lastly, eventually there will be no loot incentive to do m+ as we’ll all have the corruption setups we want, and higher ilvl gear than the dungeons can drop. Hoping for a socket on a 465 piece with a certain corruption? Yuckkkkk that 0.01% chance isn’t incentivizing anyone.

So what we have is much more poorly thought through than forging. They’ve produced a system that feels bad at the start for the majority of people, will feel bad at the end for everyone, and may feel “ok” for a short period in the middle after numerous balance patches, but before everyone’s decked out and there’s no realistically possible upgrades.

It just makes you wish they hired some brainpower.

Edit - they’ve missed their window on making the start of the patch feel good too. One of the next changes they’ll make will be increasing the drop chance on corrupted items, but it’s too late, boat sailed sorry. By the time they implement it most people won’t need the change. All of this was foreseeable and preventable, it’s like they do no risk assessment at all as a part of design.

I’d rather have tanks that want to tank and therefore are about 1000% more likely to be good at it - than a bunch of noob dps rerolling thanks.

That’s all the current changes are going to result in. The core issue with a lack of tanks has never been about dmg numbers. There’s simply less people that want all the extra responsibility and blame, to know the mechanics that much better, to know or plan routes and kill count, and to lead the group. Some of these issues could probably be addressed with careful design - not by tweaking numbers.
