Honestly I’ve really enjoyed this quest. The RNG was pretty bad I won’t lie. But what I loved about it, is the way to do the quest is just playing the game. Like yeah, there’s a much quicker and faster way to do it but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. You can opt to complete the quest overtime just by playing how you normally would… and you would inevitably get what you wanted. I like this concept and hope blizz moves forward with it. Imo it just really opens up the game and makes it feel like there’s more to do and how you want to do it. I think choice is a good thing. If this is any look at what the next expansion will be then I am excited about that
Or they could just…give it to you. Or attach it to a lore quest that provides some narrative context for why your character would have the gear and how it ties into the next expansion.
or you could understand that this is a mmo and in a mmo you work for things and not have them handed to you. this isn’t about the reward for the quest itself but just the concept of it. i would like something similar like this replace titanforging. you do this to get tokens like back in MoP and you can use it to upgrade your gear
When I pay $60-$80 for a preorder reward on top of the money I already spend on engaging with the existing content you’ll forgive me if I don’t then want to spend days farming for a set for a quest that doesn’t seem to have any purpose beyond wasting my time. If they want to attach a quest to it, fine, but make it something fun. I don’t consider an empty grind particularly fun or rewarding. Like, they can be a lot more inventive with this.
that’s your opinion. you can’t expect them to bend over backwards for your needs in particular. they don’t owe you anything just because you paid for it. if that was the case why aren’t we all in mythic gear? you pay to enjoy the game. and to enjoy the game for many is to work for what they have. if it was just given then everyone would be wearing it and it makes it feel less unique
I’m pretty sure expecting that a preorder bonus reward wouldn’t come with an RNG component quest that requires grueling hours of farming nondescript mobs with no real association to the gear counts as asking them to bend over backwards, but OK.
i mean it had it in the description as to what it would be. so if you bought it with knowing that it was your fault. again, I for one and others actually enjoyed the grind. was random people i never met before and we all just chilled out and talked and worked for what we wanted. and i made friends. WoW hasn’t been like that for a while. it forces people to have to kinda work together if they want it at a reasonable pace.
No it didn’t. It mentioned a quest, which I assumed would be something related to the actual lore of the gear. They’ve proven that they’re capable of doing that before. A farming quest is just bizarre and unnecessary. You had fun teaming up with people and chatting with them, you don’t need to attach a long grind to a preorder bonus for that to happen. You do you, man. I for one hope they don’t do this ridiculous nonsense again.
just because you don’t want them to do it in a preorder manner doesn’t mean the concept itself is bad. idk how it’s bad to allow players to achieve a reward how they wish to achieve it is a bad thing
If they allowed me to achieve a reward in the way I wished to achieve it then I’d be doing a quest with actual effort put into it, not farming nameless mobs.
because you don’t have to do it that way. it’s what i’m talking about. the nature of the quest you do not have to farm mobs without end
. you could just do everything you normally do. Quest, dungeons, raids, etc. and you would eventually meet that goal regardless. That isn’t a bad system. I think a system like that could have lots of benefits.
I’m not sure why convincing Blizzard to do the bare minimum rather than providing actual content for people and rewarding them for exploring a new facet of the game strikes you as a good idea, but all the power to you. Just gonna agree to disagree here, I’m really not into masochism.
again… adding an extra quest that could give you rewards like upgrading your gear that would get rid of the stupid rng system isn’t bad. it isn’t taking away anything. just adding something new to it. but yeah. agree to disagree

Do the quest and quitcha whining, Wizard
I’ll do the quest and whine. I’m a great multitasker.
Imagine thinking that a quest with a low drop rate on mobs trivial to kill that requires you to grind until your eyes bleed is somehow engaging content.
low drop rate can be fixed
Can you tell me what quest are you talking about, pls?
Quest is annoying. this is all a waste of time for something you already paid for.
a little bit of RNG is cool but this is ridiculous
And an earthquake could make California sink into the Pacific Ocean too. So what?
There’s a transmog set that’s available if you preorder Shadowlands. And instead of just getting the reward like they’ve done for most things this one comes with a long, grindy very low drop rate quest before you get the reward you already paid for. It’s awesome!
