You do not have to invent new mechanics. I know that is a lot of work. All it will take is one simple trick. Buff mob damage by 500%. Not 10%, not 50%, not 100%. Buff it by 500%.
It will drastically change the game into an everquest type of experience. You will need a mage to sheep, a rogue to sap. You want a single mob pull if possible on every single pull.
This is what people want. We want a challenge, not facerolling.

I wouldn’t say I want a challenge, it’s a dungeon not a raid. By making dungeons too hard or making the barrier for entry on tanks too high it will only make dungeons unfun and people will stop running them very fast.
I would rather they made new 5 mans that cater toward a more intense experience than force everyone to deal with super buffed heroics.
Just look at Cataclysm, the heroics were demolishing players and as awesome as I found it personally… the majority of players complained without end until they were nerfed into the ground. Part of this was because they were included in the LFD system and Cata heroics WERE NOT designed for Pugs.
The best compromise would be to intentionally make a bunch of heroics that are intended to be harder but give better rewards. However, this is something that would be a WotLK+ move and personally I think just leave it as they are. Dungeons are meant to be the gateway to raiding, not the endgame content itself.

This might be a hot take, but I don’t mind that heroics are garbo easy. My #1 priority when I get into Wrath is to get my pre-bis as fast as I can and then finish my reps. I’m hoping to not have to do too many heroics after that. I just want to raid and PVP.

Yeah, WOTLK dungeons (even heroics) sound boring and as funny as doing Scarlet Monastery at level 70 but 500% is clearly not a “fair” middle ground.
Some players like the “free loot 10min pack/aoe run” offered by WOTLK but some of them will realize after few weeks (when they aren’t affected by the hype/nostalgia anymore) that those dungeons need few buffs to be enjoyable.
Or you just leave them alone, because there’s literally no reason to mess with them.
If you’re pining for being one shot in 5 man dungeons go play retail and grind 20+ mythic dungeons.

There is a middle ground between WOTLK dungeons and retail mythic dungeons.
I guess you’re part of the players who have fun just rushing the same dungeons again & again without any feeling of danger nor reflexion.
Especially heroics ones. Normal dungeons were always easy and don’t need any buffs.
Wrath heroics were designed to be grinded.
I personally do not enjoy scaling power, because it always makes you feel like you’re making zero progress. I actively enjoy being able to go to older content with better gear and demolish the place, because it literally is a fun example of how you’ve improved or gotten better.
If you want a challenge, impose your own self restrictions upon yourself and your group if that’s what you’re after.
Without RDF, getting heroic badges is already going to be a headache for the massive plethora of things that require badges to be purchased, cranking up the difficulty for no reason is only going to make doing them more annoying and people are going to do them less.
Again, there is literally no reason to change heroic WOTLK dungeons. They are relevant for gear for like… two weeks maybe. Afterwards they are relevant because they drop badges.
That’s the only “Relevance” they need.

Without RDF you would be limited to one per day. Yes.
RDF bypassed this as you could be randomed into a heroic you had done already. Allowing you to continuously queue and grind badges to your hearts content.

A) LK heroics were BORING
B) Create mythic versions

No no leave heroics alone holy Moly do people not remember what happened at the beginning of TBC where you had to have specific coabspecific comps just to clear dungeons nobody wants to go back to that.
We just got done with the whole year well at least I would even make it argue 2 years of clash stacking I don’t want to go back to that.
We’re literally the 1st rate of the tear is actually easier than freaking 5 minute content leave a road alone if they want to pin harder content for 5 minutes later which is what they’re hinting at fine but leave the actual Heroides alone.
Not everything has to be the hardest thing in the game they’re fine it’s OK to have easy content in the game it’s game it’s OK especially for beginner entry level content to be that.
