Then you would still have people using tons of Water Striders.
Getting people to use Water Striders less, is the entire purpose of this system.
I don’t agree with their approach, but it is what it is.

What a novel idea! I wonder why this exact same thing wasn’t mentioned in the other 3,000 posts… oh wait…
The difference about this “nerf” than the first time they tried, is that we get something to make up for it. I fail to see the problem, is it because of this whole “i earned it philosophy” that troubles people? because they are adding an item to said vendor that gives you water walking equipment. Is the problem with this nerf because of alts? If so you can send said water walking equipment to your alt, along side all the bags you will be sending to said alt. Another thing you could do is get the artifact fishing pole, and boom water walking.
How fortunate I feel, to be able to spend gold on something (a water walking mount for alts) that I currently have for free.
LMAO you act like gold is hard to come by?
What a charming lack of argument you have. Should I be impressed by how fake-rich you are?
are you gonna be okay that i made a fair point? I don’t know if you know this, but if you do emissaries, they throw gold at you, and not only that you can literally run old content to make even more money. But apparently you are too focused on the fact that i’m apparently flaunting how much money i have, so that’s fine i guess, enjoy being upset.
What’s the point of introducing a new whiz-bang system, and then negating it by making completely useless to anyone who wants to retain their water walking ability?
It’s not a fair point, it’s a completely irrelevant point. I could be at gold cap, and it wouldn’t change the fact that by removing the strider’s innate water walking ability, Blizzard is now requiring me to pay for a function I currently have for all of my alts. It could cost 1 copper, and it wouldn’t change the fact that Blizzard is now requiring me to pay for a function I currently have for all of my alts. The “it’s not expensive”/“it’s not that inconvenient”/“it’s just a small nerf” argument doesn’t change the fact that it’s a nerf, and it doesn’t change the fact that Blizzard now has a design philosophy of removing functionality from our toons and then expecting us to earn or buy it back, rather than creating new things for us to earn.
Aparently, all everyone sees out in the world are strider and sky golems…
Next patch I’m going to assume all anyone sees are water walking sky golems.
Problem fixed… Somehow?
This fixes nothing. All this means is people take 2 seconds to mount the Strider before crossing water than going back to equipment equipped mounts when not crossing water.
Guess you’re a nobody.
What issue is this? To walk on water? DKs have the ability, Shaman have the ability, heck, you can buy potions that give you the ability.
As pointed out many of times:
This issue makes one mount extremely dominant over all the others. This issue was pointed out from day one of it’s implementation. The issue also makes a class ability completely useless. Blizz is trying to remove the strider since wod, but every time they do it it is massive outrage time.
The fact that a consumable mimics the effect is irrelevant. If they were trying to get rid of water walking they would not create a mount equip with the same effect.
Those of us who do not want them to touch the mount do so because of two fundamental issues:
People spent time and energy to grind the rep to get a specific mount that has a specific ability.
So this rep grind is in the game for over 7 years, weren’t you rewarded enough yet? I would argue that that was the most rewarding rep grind (and will probably still be) inside the game.
Concern over what will probably happen in the future. By adding consumable equipment slots, it is very easy for that particular piece of equipment to disappear from the game. There is a long history of this happening.
Are there though? I don’t think the list of consumables effects made in the past that are not currently in the game anymore is very big… maybe some engineering effects? And even if the devs decide to take away an effect, there is usually a good reason behind it, but I know you disagree since you seem think that this game is run by lunatics.
But … why does this matter?
I guess I’m still confused. Why take it away from the strider? DK,shaman and hunter can waterwalk and have the anti daze equipment on a mount now. But they took it away from strider so people couldn’t do that sooo…guess what’s going to get nerfed next time.
Can’t lie I’m going to be really mad if they take away another one of my pet abilities like they took away crane rez. But if they took ability from water strider this is 100% going to happen.
it forces you to chose between the looks of your mount and a class ability. There is no point in having thousands of mounts in the game if people are going to chose only one to avoid being handicapped.
If you walked into your bedroom and someone had taken away your bed, saying “you’ve had this for years, aren’t you rewarded enough yet?” will you be happy with the brand new bed you’ll have to buy? It’s new!
I’ve been seeing this argument (perhaps from you) in a few threads and it makes no sense. Does it matter how long ago I earned/bought something? Why should I have to earn or buy it AGAIN?

You are comparing a real world physical item, that ages, get’s damaged and don’t affect anyone else except you with an eternal item in a video game that is by comparison inside the house of every player and affects every player. This is not a single player game dude, your bed is our bed.
The golem can’t benefit from the equipment. Which is what we’re asking for the strider.
Eternal? Mount equipment can be taken out at the beginning of the next expansion when they decide it’s “not working as intended.” That scenario is not unusual.
And they’ll still choose only one for herbing. The golem keeps its ability. And that’s okay?
Everyone already has the choice to water walk on any mount. Be a Shaman or DK or use water walking potions or be grouped with a Shaman or DK friend.
So now those classes, potions and then add in the barding and gliders means people are still double benefiting from equipment and other buffs. That’s okay, but asking the strider to be water walking only is not?
