Easy Fix for the Water Strider Outrage

The correct answer is being able to fish while your mounted on the Water Strider

We will be RP walking everywhere eventually. Canā€™t have all that artwork and Dev time flashing by 100% movement speed.

How is having one mount that can herb and another mount that water walk a ā€œmassive issue?ā€ :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

A couple of popular mounts negates nothing when two classes have water walking and one mount (along with travel form) has herb picking abilities.

If the strider is treated the same way as the golem, people can choose water walking for any mount or daze for some other mount or whatever else they come up with.

Buying something we worked for initially and has been taken away is ridiculous when it doesnā€™t have to be neutered. Because removing water walking isnā€™t simply nerfing it. Itā€™s neutering it completely.

You want to neuter the strider because itā€™s some ā€œmassive issue?ā€ Fine. Remove the sky golemā€™s ability, remove water walking potions, Shaman and DK water walking, barding and travel form from the game.

i guess iā€™m in the minority where it doesnā€™t bother me at all, personally iā€™m just happy that i donā€™t need to use that ugly mount anymore

This is how I feel too. I always hated that I was forced to use it when I had farmed for years to get the Zulian Panther.

But the community as a whole loves the water striders.

This is how Iā€™m different from every WoW player, including the devs: I donā€™t just think I should get my way.

The water strider should keep water walking.

Donā€™t make people earn things then yoink them away. Not nice.

Yep. Weā€™re in the minority sadly.

It can. Nothing has to change, at all, for anyone who doesnā€™t want it to change. You get the choice of waterwalking/anti-daze/parachutes. But now, you get it for all of your mounts.

What youā€™re not realising is the slippery slope.

WoW does not make a change unless itā€™s to hurt the players or objectively take away power or capability.

What theyā€™re going to do is segway into one mount equipment that they basically force you to fill the slot with - one mount equipment you would NOT want to use a mount without. Maybe a +15% speed buff, idk. Whatever it is, itā€™ll be powerful enough to force the choice.

And voila! No more free water walking because you earned a water strider. Youā€™ll be back to start, having earned nothing, just like always.

NO.

Water strider should keep water walking.

If Iā€™m not mistaken, the slippery slope is a logical fallacy with good precedent, yeah?

Iā€™m not trying to be disrespectful here, but admitting in your first line that your argument is based off a fallacy doesnā€™t help the argument much, especially when you provide no supporting evidence to establish such a trend logically.

This is, to me, an active exercise in player choice. Iā€™m indifferent towards waterwalking; of course, Iā€™ll use it if itā€™s available, but Iā€™d much rather have a permanent end to the entirely unnecessary daze mechanic. Iā€™m willing to sacrifice waterwalking - which I very much earned alongside everyone else in Mists, check my achievement date - in order to never be dazed again.

Perhaps sometimes with War Mode enabled, Iā€™d rather have a parachute so Iā€™ll have another avenue of escape when someone throws a net at me on my flying mounts. Now, I have the choice to decide what I want, and when, and all it costs me is a quick trip to Pandaria to buy some floaties for my mounts, or an even quicker trip to the auction house to parachute/rid myself of daze.

I see nothing but benefits, here.

Not in WoW itā€™s not.

If they get their foot in the door, get some feature added, they will use it to reduce character ability and power. This has been proven, time and time again.

This is no more choice than the talent trees were choice.

WoW does not give you choice.

It gives you straitjackets disguised as choice.

Everyone forgets we can tame waterstriders  we have the most utility of all.

I didnā€™t forget that. I block it out intentionally.

It isnā€™t about that though. I donā€™t care if the mount loses its water walking ability.
I just want my TW tokens back because the reputation is now useless at exalted.
If I can now freely buy a water walking at neutral rep for 10k in 8.2, I rather take that route and save all my TW tokens to buy other TW mount.

Blizzard screwed me over.

Do you honestly think your pet water strider wonā€™t lose its ability to let you walk on water?

inb4 they nerf path of frost and water walking as well

There goes my plans of anti-daze equipment+walking on water via class abilities.

What issue is this? To walk on water? DKs have the ability, Shaman have the ability, heck, you can buy potions that give you the ability.

Those of us who do not want them to touch the mount do so because of two fundamental issues:

  1. People spent time and energy to grind the rep to get a specific mount that has a specific ability.
  2. Concern over what will probably happen in the future. By adding consumable equipment slots, it is very easy for that particular piece of equipment to disappear from the game. There is a long history of this happening.

Does this mean that all the water striders running across the lakes, and ponds in pandaria will now have to go to nat pagle to buy boots to get across that pond? Way to kill immersion blizz hahaha. Those striders will get to keep their ww ability iā€™m sure, while my water strider sinks like a rock unless I put boots on it lol.

Since I will not personally benefit from this new system beyond the couple of weeks it takes to unlock pathfinder, I would prefer Blizzard just cancel the whole idea. If they cannot introduce a new perk that the entire playerbase is 100% behind they should not even bother.

I donā€™t need the equipment. And Iā€™d rather not hear another six months of whining and crying about a nerf thatā€™s not really a nerf.
