Blizz was able to soak a bunch of people for money to try the demo from Blizzcon. How many of us would pay $25 or more for say a one week advance entry to Classic? It is not pay to win as there really is no “win” in Classic but yes it would give you a head start on gear, leveling, gathering or whatever. I would pay $25 for this but that would be my limit.
Fantastic idea. This has clearly been well thought out. Thank you for your contribution.

There are games that have given advance play to those who bought collector editions. I guess if someone REALLY wanted to get a head start and avoid sharding, maybe a one-week head start would be a worthwhile product.
I don’t see an Early Access option happening, but I do see a “Collector’s Edition” type of option happening and I’ll be one of those idiots throwing money at Blizzard for it. I can’t help myself when it comes to Blizzard special editions.
You say that, but then people who roll on pvp servers who either couldn’t afford it, didn’t know about it, or pick a reason for not getting the early access would be at a huge disadvantage against players who did get it. I mean do you want to be that guy that started on the official launch day, get out of the starting zone and run straight into a bunch of lvl 30+ players from the opposing faction who have just been salivating at the chance of ganking every lowbie that comes out into the wpvp zones?
But what Blizzard wants to know is if you would throw MORE money at it if it gave you a 3-day head start?
*looks down in shame
I’m sure plenty of people would pay, but more likely they’ll give people access to the Beta.
However, I would say, if they allow this pay for early access, then all sharding for the entire game needs to be disabled, everywhere, always.
How’s that any different from someone who was on vacation the week it launched?
Anyone that eager to get a headstart isn’t going to start on launch day if they can pay for early access. The pay for access thing would have to be unlimited sales, not some exclusive thing.
… For real? The difference is the person who just took vacation didn’t pay money
for an advantage over other players, aka Pay 2 Win.
I think you completely misunderstood what I said. The people waiting to gank the lowbies on launch day would be the people who paid for the early access, and everyone else, it doesn’t really matter the reason why they didn’t get the early access, they didn’t pay the money now they are at a disadvantage.
Hey. No.
An extra bit of cash to get in early could be good for limiting flow of players to start. But those who can’t afford the extra (yes everybody is in a different place financially), would be at a disadvantage in terms of player names being taken, levelling (for those who are hardcore and want to race to 60) and generally just enjoying the collective launch experience/mayhem.
I would dive at an early release payment. But I don’t think it’s fair and I’m glad they won’t be doing it.
And those people are still going to be there 3 days later when no early access is granted, when people stuck in the queue because “No Sharding” won, finally get out of the starting areas.
What exactly did he win?
Non payer heads west from Crossroads, eager to take in the majestic splendor that is Stonetalon Mountains.
“You have left 1. Barrens -General
You have joined 1. Stonetalan Mountains -General
Uknown Entity’s Ambush crits you for 1200 (1058 overkill).
You die.

Your first mistake was to use that statement.
How is this different from what will happen, early entry or not?
early access would be a deal breaker for me.
