Earl Boen, voice of King Terenas dead

Prolific film and voice actor Earl Boen has passed away at the age of 81, as confirmed by a family member earlier today.

Best known as criminal psychologist Dr. Peter Silberman in the Terminator series of movies, Boen also lent his voice to World of Warcraft, portraying the original game Narrator, Magtheridon in the Burning Crusade and Legion, Hekima the Wise in Cataclysm, and King Terenas Menethil II in Wrath of the Lich King.

With more than fifty years of film and voice work, his other credits are too numerous to mention here, though video game fans may have recognized his voice as LeChuck in The Secret of Monkey Island, Lord Ulbrec in Icewind Dale II, Sergei Gurlukovich in Metal Gear Solid II, and many more. Although he may no longer be with us, his work will live on forever.

Rest in Peace.

I never knew Dr Silberman was King Terenas! Well that’s really sad to hear of his passing.

I didn’t know he was the voice of King Terenas. Such a shame, his narration in the WotLK opening cinematic gave me chills.

RIP.

Just the other day I was thinking about the original race introductions and how his voice, in combination with the sweeping shots of landscapes and music, fully captured my imagination so much as a child playing WoW that hearing it to this day takes me back 16 years. I don’t think there will ever be anything that could ever replicate that feeling. Sad day.
