I’ve seen others saying the same, I’ve tried this and others with 7900xtx’s aren’t that lucky.
Jumped in to say the waiting doesn’t work on mine, rx6600 series here…had to do the dx11 switch but now the game looks and runs like crap, no help yet, just gonna roll back its almost unplayable even with low graphic settings.
Can confirm this is still an issue on DX12. Latest drivers as well.
7900XTX on Win 11.
Driver still crashes on dx 12 with 7900xt, not to be confused with the other issue where dx 12 causes the game to hang. These are actual gpu driver crashes while playing the game on dx 12 at random times.
Still doesn’t work, and i think the memory leak with dx11 and dx11 legacy is back.
My game literally just wont launch as of today. What is going on?!
mine will not launch at all
Mine works with in dx11 but looks like they are having the dx issue all over again. >_>
blizzard still not shipping the proper precompiled shaders for recent radeon drivers… come on small indie company, it’s been months.
Not really a thing for games like this, nor is it needed since almost every material in WoW has a very low instruction count compared to something like a PBR shader you’d see in a game like RDR2 or some other realistic styled game. Also, in games like WoW, there are far too many potential permutations to compile them all and far too many hardware/driver configurations. Like take a mage frostbolt spell, for instance, it can technically be RGB coloured into any color, therefore, there are an almost infinite(well down to floating point precision) number of variations to it.
The drivers compile the shaders because they are driver version dependent
Stop acting childish about it, temper tantrums won’t get you your way.
put a sock in it pal, and check yourself your the one the sounds childish. us AMD users have been having constant crashes for 6 months with DX 12.
Necroing this for everyone else popping back into WoW for Christmas after a long absence. the -d3d11 command line trick is working for now if you’re still getting those Not Responding or Error 132 errors with an AMD card after updating drivers.
Still an issue and a horrible one.
The solution is no better. Playing on dx11 is almost unplayable in any content requiring more than 5 players.
Don’t use the dx11 trick, just wait the 4 minutes or so for all the compiling to end and dx12 should work again. This is the going wisdom at the moment. It’s annoying to have to wait 4 minutes the 1st time, but once it’s all compiled subsequent launches work perfectly.
It’s not a fix, it does load but the crashes still happen in DX12. All this does it let you into the game so you can crash periodically.
DX11 is the only way to actually prevent crashing.
You might have separate compounding issues. I have zero crashes on my 7900xt using DX12, nor does my wife on her 5700xt using dx12. I have the occasional issue where I need to let the shaders compile, but it’s never resulted in a crash in-game.
I think you have two separate issues happening, the connection of which being the directx version. This thread is was created about the shader compiler issue, so it might be worth your time to open a separate thread about the crashing.
For many months about a year ago, I did have frequent crashing with my AMD cards, but that ended up being my own fault due the fact that I had enabled the Windows Insider Program (lowest tier) on my system and I was trying to use the retail AMD drivers, which are not compatible with the Insider Program. Unenrolling from the insider program and resetting my Windows 11 install to the standard retail build, has since solved all of these problems and I haven’t had a crash or instability since.
I already submitted a ticket last year and was told it was a wow specific issue. Still has not been fixed?
why is this still not fixed?
It something AMD will have to fix. Its not just wow having issues with AMD drivers .
Welcome to the endless loop. AMD thinks blizzard will fix it, and blizzard thinks AMD will fix it.
Perpetual blame game .
