I’m not a fan of dwarves but I certainly would have played a Nerubian.
The posts asking for beards did exist… but I’d be very willing to believe that they were Blizzard devs testing the waters for their inclusion, because internally they actually wanted them… or what ever might have happened.
The beards are a strange inclusion.
Not only are they strange, but they were a prominent item showcased at the con when revealing Earthen, as if the audience were going to jump for joy for a recycled customization option?
The Earthen appearances are tempting but…. Do I need another character? Another Paladin even? Jury is out.
yes, after high elves.
The reaction was similar to the one to their remark, “Don’t you guys have phones?”
completely out of touch these devs.
Actually, yes. There has probably been an annual thread asking for this.
It’s not unusual to get the feeling that this might be the case, usually about some post by an unknown asking people how they would feel about some change that there has been no demand for. I think the guys asking for beardladies were some sort of weird fetishists, though.
Not in my experience, no.
High elf fanatics are loud but not as numerous as they think they are.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched the con, but didn’t the devs get heckled or booed? I remember at one point one of the devs responding to something happening in the crowd, which I assume means someone was yelling something inappropriate.
Which is gross because the same people that ask for a Blood Elf with a blue background and a third version of the same race are the people complaining about Earthen Dwarves.
Ok, threads don’t go away to the nether. Are you able to find any that exist?
The problem with Kul Tirans and Mechagnomes, they lack customization. Mechagnomes are terribly ugly and even though they have good racial options, practically no one likes the race. Kultirans have terrible animations, and they don’t look good in most of the game’s transmogs, due to the lack of skeletal symmetry (Kultitan women are cool, but normal human ones are better).
You mean “nerubuian.” Nubians are an actual ethnic group related to aegyptians (like me). The Nerubian kingdom definitely has an Ancient Egypt vibe, though.
Then the thing with the phones was worse. But still. When they announced Dwarves 3.0, there was just this incredibly awkward silence, to the point where the woman even said, “Hey, who doesn’t like dwarves?” In response: more silence.
not thrilled but ima give female bearded earthen mountain thane warrior a shot
You’re right, that’s what I was thinking about. Yeah, that must have been rough being on stage for that. I respect her bravery, but, realistically they should have picked a better product to showcase if they wanted a better response.
Crystal beards and hairs could have been a nice option for them.

I’m sure plenty of people wanted beards on body type 2 characters. I want this to be extended to all races.
But dwarves on the Horde? Nah, what’s next, Neutral Amani? Nah, it dilutes each faction’s themes.
You also have female humans (visage form) in the Horde, but dwarves go too far?
Exactly. Putting in:
Ogres, Vrykuls (these two really are the big ticket items), actual High Elves, San’layn, Eredar as a separate race instead of a thrown-in skin color, would have been such easy wins, potential lore included…
… Instead we get Void Elves out of nowhere, Light Double-Dip Draenei, Tauren-but-Moose, and Dwarf++…
