Dungeon mechanics have become too complex to be fun

The OP is a warlock, lol…if he were hunter Id think it’d not be as noticeable a problem

LOL okay, no matter what else is said in this thread this right here isn’t even remotely true.

Let Blizz break DBM and WA type addons and see how much content becomes undoable.

So still above the level most people play at?

It is. Everything is overly telegraphed. All DBM does is say “move” to which most people don’t even know what they’re moving from.

Using it for a timer tracker is nice too (although I’ve somehow made mine disappear). But yet again, you get a good idea of when things are going to happen (lots of it being % based) after running the content for weeks on end.

Pretty much the entire game except mythic Broodtwister?

So true dude, all these elitist would be lost without the addons and weak aruas playing the game for them. The game really is impossible to play with out addons taking over for you

Name a single specific mechanic that ‘needs’ DBM/WA as more than a convenience factor. Especially in dungeons.

There’s more bs mechanics than actually bad ones imo. Some good ideas and poor execution.

Listen im sure youre a very good player but lets not kid ourselves, the addons are playing the game for us. Its nothing to be ashamed of we all use them. Why wouldnt we use the addons to play the game for us makes it a lot easier to do hard content if addons play for us.

DBM saying “frontal” is not playing the game for me. In fact it’s incredibly useless without already knowing what mob is doing that and what to look for.

I need WAs and addons to track dots and buffs and ability timers because the base game is wholly incompetent at making that readable. That’s not playing the game for me either, I MADE THOSE TRACKERS.

Idk why youre getting so defensive, theres nothing to be ashamed of we all use the addons to play the game for us relax

They couldnt find anything else to shame with, so they reverted back to addons even though they use them.

It’s an amazing psyche to watch & take notes of.

For M+ it’s all that is needed, genuinely. There’s maybe a total of 2 deadly abilities in the current season that aren’t announced natively that being dark orb on Dawnbreaker (Although I think it’s announced now) and infestation on CoT.

I have no clue about raids, I’d assume it’s more necessary there but even then, eventually everything just becomes muscle memory.

Raids the only thing is on mythic there’s tendency of needing to be ready for things before they’re telegraphed but you still learn things. The major value is that when you get to a point you’ve not been to before you aren’t fully in uncharted territory, but you still typically outgrow the warnings / w/e and just play by the time it’s a kill.

The one exception is when a WA takes on the cognitive load for a mechanic like Ovinax eggs. It could be done by someone quickly reeling off names in an order and telling people where to go, but honestly most have a vague level of disdain for those types of mechanics. Either not wanting them to exist outright or wanting the time period in which to communicate and handle them increased such that players don’t need to be quite so precise.

Chaos is not bad.

The bad is 1 shots and just obnoxious puzzle fights, one of the reasons raiding is dead to me.

The game became more of a puzzle team solving issue then a straight up fight.

Straight up fights sound boring. You do bosses for mechanics, else, just go wail on target dummies.

I played devastation evoker doing M+2 Ara Kara, on the first boss, I used deep breath and then boss cast that aoe where I landed… got one shot. I felt bad for the group. Now I have PTSD and wont do any mythic dungeons. One shot by a mechanic in M+2 geee.

I said puzzles are bad, chaos is good, not just sit there and do your rotation.

There were some really good mechanic new dungeons in DF and in TWW. But most of the “hard stuff” is just 1-2 shot spells or bosses in certain dungeons with dmg scaling.

That’s the big problem.

What would you class as a puzzle fight?

In dungeons there aren’t many honestly. This season perhaps the duo in Stonevault or third boss from Necrotic where either you do the bosses mechanic this 1 way or it’s a wipe and key is bricked, they aren’t particularly hard, just really obnoxious due to the scaling dmg compared to several other dungeons.

Dawnbreaker for instance have some very interesting mechanics for bosses, nothing really new, but just a decent implementation.

Raid on the other hand, have just way too many stupid micro auras or debuffs where you need specific weak auras to so many different silly things.

Mythic Azshara for me was an ultra letdown, not really a fan of the character, but that fight was just stupid. Compare that to Mythic Jaina or Mythic Garrosh for instance and you see how “puzzling” is happening more then “fighting”.
