The world quest Sandswept Bones is up this week in Vol’dun. That means Dunegorger Kraulok is up all week, along with a chance at the Slightly Damp Pile of Fur which teaches you the mount Mollie.

Is it soloable now? I haven’t tried since 9.0 and got lazy when I discovered I’d need to still grab others.
Don’t forget the other two alpacas.
Elusive quickhoof spawns in several locations in Vol’dun, check Wowhead for locations. Buy seaside leafy greens at the Tortaka refuge to feed it and the mount is yours.
The third alpaca spawns in the new phase of Uldum and must be fed Gersahi greens picked there daily for a week.

Some classes probably can, but there is always someone there waiting to kill him.
If by chance there isn’t try to tame him and people will spring up out of the ground.

For the Hunters: This is a unique-skin pet that keeps its first and last name. Since it’s only up every 6 weeks that makes it a semi rare pet.

I have flown around Uldum for hours trying to find the alpaca. Even had the /waypoints all marked

It is near impossible to do solo, just too much ground to cover.
There used to be groups that would camp each spawn spot and call out when he/she was found.

I still find myself boggled by the decision to make world bosses tamable. Someone on the dev team must be a griefer at heart.

Whether you’re a Hunter or someone try to kill the WB, war mode is completely empty.

I’ve been able to solo it on most toons since a bit earlier on in this expansion. It just took FOREVER.
Usually people will be there to help. Never seen anyone trying to tame them but if I did I’d probably let them. It isn’t like once you kill him/tame him he doesn’t respawn. “Griefing” lol

I found early morning between 3:30 and 6:30 est is a pretty good time too for taming.

Dunegorger respawns pretty fast, at least.

That’s what you have to do every day. If your realm is busy during the day you’d have better luck at night. Or realm hopping. Sometimes I found him right away, but other times it did take hours.

I just did this less than a month ago and it was easy. I got the addon that marks where it shows up, and just flew around the zone checking all the spots once a day. I was generally in the zone for less than 20 minutes per day before finding it. WM off, if that matters.

The npc’s are targetable. So I found it flying a route around the spawn points hitting a target macro.
I don’t think the alpaca that drops off Dunegorger is a rare drop. It’s the fact that Dunegorger is up so rarely that makes it rare.
It’s also easy to see because the blue ! quest marker shows up on the minimap before you even see the alpaca.
