Luckily I picked the pink duck skin on my pink-haired mage, but I’m disappointed that unlocking colors on my other toons doesn’t unlock for all toons. The quest doesn’t look repeatable, so in order to collect all of the skins, I’d had to do this quest 6 years in a row. That’s a little excessive.
I’m hoping that this is unintentional and this will be changed to account-wide unlock. Even if I end up missing a few colors this year I can still pick up a few mext year. But 6 years is frustrating.
The quest marker wasn’t blue. It was yellow. Repeatable quests are blue. Weekly repeatable quests are yellow but the event only lasts one week. So either it’s not repeatable or they messed up the color of the icon. As I said, it “doesn’t look repeatable.”
They change Noblegarden more often than once in every six years so if this is really a one-per-year, nobody’s getting them all.
What really sucks is that new characters we make after this event is over won’t be able to use the toy at all, because you can’t use it without at least one colour duckling body unlocked.
It was a kick in the teeth to figure it out after I had done it on six toons expecting to have completed the collection and now to find out that it only applies to the toon that chooses each disguise.
Along with the 1% mount drop rate from a once a day per character loot box gamble, and this is idiotic.
Debating if I wait for a bluepost/change or if I should put a ticket in for an answer. I’d really like to know if someone actually managed to convince an experienced team of designers that a 6 year quest was a good idea, especially when its for a random toy. I have to assume this is just a bug they are trying to fix right now, but I really want to know lol.
My assumption is that it’s supposed to be account wide and is simply bugged, or there’s supposed to be a daily for it so you can get all six colors. Daily quests have started yellow on their initial introduction clear before, so I’m hoping that’s the case here. I guess we’ll find out in a few hours with the rest or if a Blue clarifies things.
Of course I wouldn’t put it past Blizzard to have designed it like this intentionally, because they make nonsensical toys all the time, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
If I’d known it was character specific, I’d have been more selective in my color choices. I assumed it would be account wide. Hopefully it gets fixed to be that way.
Why do you think you’re going to redo the quest line every year? Most of these holiday events have one time quest lines. I don’t think there’s any reason to think the duck conspiracy chain is going to be repeatable.
That being said as a completionist I share the concerns here. It feels like an oversight that these were not made account wide or a daily implemented. I doubt they would make it so that you had to have six alts to complete it, so a daily or vendor and earning it from scratch for character feels more likely?
I don’t mind that they’re spreading out the acquisition of the colors. They never said it was only once per year, so perhaps we’ll see them from other things. However, if I open a color, it should be open on all of my toons. If that means only the 1st toon that gets the quest can do it, that’s fine. If I pick white, all of my toons should get white and “credit” for quest completion.
With the way it’s set up, I’m obligated to complete the quest chain on all of the alts, so they all have at least 1 color to be able to use the toy. This is incredibly mundane and a complete waste of time. I’m a completionist, I’m fine with mundane, and have done many a quest multiple times as alts go through it. But this just seems silly.
I wish I’d known that I could only get one color per character because I would have thought harder about which to get for my main instead of (sigh) assuming all colors would be acquirable in one year.
Yeah, but you can go do those right now on every character except the Halloween and Christmas one. All others you can get. I just did them all a few weeks ago
So the toy is completely unusable on alts that didn’t do the holiday quest.
No, that’s bad. It needs to be account-wide. If it’s supposed to be one color per year then STILL make it account-wide, and flag the quest as done account-wide too.
It’s a strange choice to make this unlock per-character. It feels complete opposite of whole account-wide direction things have been going on the road to warbands.
