please everyone be sure to submit feedback about this toy. hopefully they will change their mind about the way this was implemented
You shouldn’t have to do the unlock on every single character for the Pepe or the duck due to the associated toy being account wide, therefore so should the appearances.
Oh, I agree totally. Doing it once? Yay! Twice? 3? Chore? 4+? Hell no!
The fact that this isn’t account-wide is insane. It goes against the very philosophy of TWW of making more stuff account-wide so I have no idea why they decided against it this time. 6 years to get all skins? That’s just stupid.
Should there ever be drawbacks to having an alt army to throw at events?
(I ask as someone recoiling a bit at the thought of running every old and new alt through 6 years of quest chains, short though they may be, but also feeling a tiny bit guilty over the advantage of getting so many rolls per day at the boss loot compared to someone playing a single character)
I’d had to do this quest 6 years in a row.
That’s some EA Star Wars Battlefront II levels of “Sense of Pride and Accomplishment”tm
that is sure to pump up those engagement statistics for the quarterly report.
I don’t mind doing it 6 years in a row. It is a bit annoying and seems to go against the way Blizz has been doing WoW lately…my issue is that the toy is worthless on new alts if you don’t do the whole quest to get even one color. There needs to be a basic boring color so all characters can use the toy without doing the quest and then make the skins per character who goes through the quest. As an altaholic that’s my main issue with it. A useless toy save for my main at the time that did a quest chain.
This rework even seems to have been made before the ‘make more things account wide an accessible’ and ‘rare drops suck’ philosophy. They hotfixed the duxk boss to give a better chance on one toon per day which is good…why not hotfix a duck costume in for a standard toy? It’s really weird how this even was done.
Should there ever be drawbacks to having an alt army to throw at events?
yes, i think they should add a stacking negative drop rate modifier for every alt you run an event on each day
It might look good and fair mathematically, but in practice I find it turns out to feel very punishing when playing.
it was not a serious suggestion.
i genuinely think nothing other than 100% drop rates will satisfy a lot of people here.

For most of the holiday bosses, there’s a bonus to the roll on the first toon of the day per account, so you have a lower chance on alts. That means that there’s already a penalty for running the event on alts.
Well do the quest another 5 years if you need to have all these duck skins. Is it really that important?

no, because the “reduced” rate is no lower than it was previously. that’s not a penalty.

Children’s Week pets would like a word with you.
Back before we had account-wide pets tab, you got what you got (one pet) until next year.

And on every alt every year.
That’s the designer brain defect. Colors should be account-wide and flag the quest as done for the year account-wide too. I would have pursued that. Per-character? Oh hell no, this toy no longer exists.
I agree with almost everything that you said, except for not miding doing it 6 years in a row. That’s really just dev BS and goes counter to all of the “account-wide everything” they’ve been talking.
Don’t get me wrong, my enjoyment of the game isn’t going to hinge on what I now have to think of as a stupidly-thought out pet, but …it’s a canary, showing the mentality that remains in at least some of the devs.
I recently returned to the game around thanksgiving after a few years off. I’m generally enjoying myself, but it’s not going to ruin my life to stop playing again for another few years or longer). A more player-friendly game and attitude will keep me around for longer.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Probably not willing to go through that again. I’ve lived through my sweaty MMO-centric phase of my life years ago.
