Dual Spec?

I don’t think they will be doing traditional duel spec because it would require coding changes which they have already said they can’t make because this client is linked with era which is why they nerf runes and not anything in the environment that might be tied to era servers like talents. I think they will figure out a way to allow us to have multiple specs but it won’t be like it is in wotlk

you saying dual spec is a “net positive” is an opinion. and i disagree :expressionless:

they already did this by reducing respec costs by 98% :expressionless:
and if you want talent pre-sets to save time, they have addons for that.

SoD is literally vanilla with a bunch of retail talents/abilities in it

There’s three parts to this issue. Philosophy, spec autonomy, and decision weight. Not only is it okay that it feels bad, it’s also preferable. The game must deliver textured experiences. If everything feels good, nothing does.

Spec autonomy, the very inconvenience you’ve described is the same thing that protects your choice of spec from group and raid leaders. If you can swap on the fly, there’s no good reason you can give if a group leader asks you to swap to tank or healer, when you only want to play DPS.

Decision weight, when you can swap your spec at-will then there isn’t a whole lot of meaning in the choice, a choice of spec is one that has so much meaning that it will be implacated all the way to endgame, affecting how you play, what gear you choose etc, a choice that should be difficult to make because the designers did a whole lot of work with presenting you with a lot of really tempting choices and then asking you to choose.

Dual spec undermines all of that, and that’s bad for you, wheather or not you realize it, and even worse, it’s bad for the game.

Reducing respec cost isn’t adding duel spec and saying if we want duel spec we should just download some addons to manage it all is a weird take.

Idk how something like this makes people think of retail? It doesnt drastically change the way people play like a summoning stone or dungeon finder would. Im all for it. I feel like the “no changes” crowd arent even playing SoD because if they did they would be contradicting themselves.

yes it does :expressionless:

So this is where you actually say why instead of just disagreeing.

The “why” has already been posted in this thread many times. Here’s an example:

Now this is the part where you act like none of that matters

This is already the case, we can swap our spec quite a lot with the cost reduction it just requires a bunch of extra mouse clicks to get done

There is a near infinite number of ways to say “No” - You don’t have the gear for it, You were recruited to the group as DPS and are not prepared to tank/heal, You could even try acting like a normal human being and just saying “I prefer to DPS” - it’s not like there’s a madman holding you hostage forcing you to raid with the kind of person who’s approach to content is so fundamentally different to yours they would even want to impose their will on you

Oh no I Click my mouse 45 less times a raid lockout period! My gameplay experience is being drastically altered to mildly more convenient and less likely to induce RSIs How Can Classic ever recover?!

well apparently it’s still quite onerous, because if it wasn’t, you wouldn’t be asking for dual spec

You’re right it doesnt matter because people that think that way take the game too seriously. Im sure most people would welcome the change. You really think annoying inconveniences that ultimately just waste your time gives a game “texture” or makes a better experience lmao. Your nostalgia and love for the original game, which this is most definitely not, is blinding you.

Maybe I just didn’t want to believe that…

:woman_shrugging:

I will continue to be just fine without dual spec, It is however quite disingenuous to claim that it’s addition would significantly alter the landscape of the game at this point in time and I will continue to point this out

we know for a fact that it alters the game greatly. you realize we’ve been down this exact same road before, right? dual spec isn’t a new idea. we already know what it does to the game :expressionless:

“It changes the game trust me bro” you arent explaining the why. And dont refer back to that other stuff cus it doesnt help your case

They can make it cost 50 gold to learn, but with all the roles every class is able to now fill not having duel spec makes 0 sense.

Ok, repeat after me “This is not classic, this is season of discovery”.

…he says while playing on the classic client and selecting the classic SoD server :expressionless:
