Dual Spec will likely be in WoTLK Classic

I hate this idea, spec swapping is an important part of wrath raiding, it’s designed for it.

There is zero reason why dual spec shouldn’t be in wotlk and I haven’t seen one argument that has come even close to being valid.

Two major features of WotlK and they’re not sure if they want to implement them.

This is big time “You think you want them…but you don’t” vibes

Over the years they have shown just how out of touch they are. Its almost like they’re purposely imploding WoW

I don’t disagree with anything you said. Not sure you thought I was in favor of restrictions, but I’m not.

I actually felt like not having dual spec in TBCC as #somechanges was a mistake on their part that led to early gating over people needing geared/viable heroic tanks. We either had too many tanks wanting in the 25 man, or not enough geared tanks to run people through heroics. They needed to address it, and instead did nothing.

How hard is it to just recreate an expansion as it was? They mostly pulled it off with Classic. Just staggered content release. And guess what: it was incredibly successful. It had great player retention throughout the entirety of Classic.

Then TBCC comes along and they adopt this #somechanges policy and…suddenly it’s nowhere near as successful. Players leave in droves.

So when Wrath Classic comes along what do they do? “Let’s make even more changes!! Let’s remove entire systems that existed during Wrath from the game.” Yeah, that’ll work out well.

Ludicrous as it sounds, it does almost seem like they’re purposefully trying to tank the game. Can they really be that out of touch?

His point is why does he feel the need to virtue signal their social justice opinions to the world.

I’m all of those things as well, except a game designer. You don’t see me telling the world how righteous i am. It’s pathetic how people scream to others how good they are bc they like other people i guess? It’s weird

They made plenty of changes in Classic too. I know dishonesty is your magnum opus, but let’s be real here; the changes so far didn’t drive players away in droves. If Blizzard made more good changes, like:

  • Adding Dual Spec in TBCC.
  • Making earning Arena points based on personal rating. They could have made teams cosmetic.
  • Adding more UI changes (calendar, modern guild UI), adding the modern premade Group Finder (not the original TBC one that is useless and virtually no one uses).

They made plenty of good changes. I’ve listed them all before and no one disagrees, people just focus on the bad changes. Now, the dungeon finder change is drastic enough that you could possibly drive many players away. Anything they do to butcher Dual Spec to make it more “Classic” could drive people away.

“we might adjust it, we haven’t decided, open to feedback” no wonder wow is failing, instead of using their own skills they rely on players to design the game

I don’t like to get political here but I’ll just state the obvious. Blizzard HQ is in the furthest left area of the U.S.A. Blizzard culture is very “progressive.” If you pay attention to their Twitter accounts, there is virtually no political diversity within that company. Thousands of employees and I’d be surprised if even 10 of them held dissenting social or economic views. Or at the very least, if there are employees who go against the grain, they’re afraid to let it be known.

I dunno, maybe it helps him meet chicks?

My point is, what’s wrong with the people who are triggered by others being treated with respect?

How about rely on the original designers who made the most popular mmo in history?

The game is already designed.

Why is it weird? I don’t do it but a majority of people from the far left to the far right signal their views to the world. They do it on line, with their hat and T-shirt, with stickers on their car etc. I decidedly don’t do it, to the point of not even wearing a hat or shirt with a sport team on it or a corporate logo. But if you don’t do it you’re the one who is “weird” or let’s say outside the norm for Americans.

Actually you make a good point… i don’t publicly express my political views in any way. Social media vehicles shirts or hats. So to me, people that do that, are weird.

I’m probably the most liberal gun nut toxic male feminist i know. I break all the rules lol. But having 3 daughters and 2 sisters no brothers but join the marine corps will do that to you i guess lol

Well, the irony here is that Brian Birmingham is one of the original designers of WoTLK…

I don’t consider myself a “gun nut” but I hunt and own guns and consider myself a pretty far left liberal. There’s more of us out there than the right thinks. I’m 65, grew up with guns in my childhood home with union democrat parents, I’m atheist and served in the army. Even though I’m far left I don’t 100% agree on every single point the modern left ascribes to. We all don’t march in lock step.

Which is precisely why he is somewhat allowed to dictate what is or isn’t considered true authenticity.

Thankful he recognizes the crappy aspects of WOTLK, and truly hope he sticks to his guns.

This.

Classic should be as is. No “QOL” changes, no change to features. Nothing. Because the minute you change one thing you open the door for everything else.

Level 60 Pandaren Death Knight. Opinion invalid.

The decisions should be made by the players that are actually playing the game, through polling. If we went back to “No-changes”, we’d have 400ms batching and a plethora of other garbage.

“No-changes” was a mistake. The game right now, even with the bad decisions, is still better off than it would have been if it was completely “No-changes.”
