Dual Spec will likely be in WoTLK Classic

So now that Blizzard has made it crystal clear to you how they feel about dual spec in classic versions of the game, what do you have to say for making an absolute fool of yourself for a year here on the forums acting like there was any chance they’d add it to TBC?

How foolish do you feel hearing them admit it’s actually super popular with the player base and not just some niche thing only a few people want?

Yes, this is what we’ve been telling the people who wanted it in TBC for nearly a year now. Glad you finally figured it out.

Make your own guild DUH
Just like your own groups
In fact guilds are the primary source of loot problems, just get rid of them

It’s popularity is irrelevant to the point here: you were so, decidedly, absolutely wrong almost every step of the way.

Take that L.

Why is this guy not working on retail if he wants to keep changing things to match his vision? Quit gutting all the features we want.

I feel great for voicing my opinions to blizzard. My candidates have lost elections. I still argue politics on other web sites and I still vote. This just convinces me that all your arguments against dual spec were fraudulent and all you really cared about was winning.

What L? I never guaranteed blizzard’s position one way or the other on dual spec.

So I guess we were both right, which is the irony of your position, you could never win.

The fact they don’t realize that it was the deeper talent trees that disincentivized hybrid specs is wild.

Hybrids just got less and less effective as more of the power shifted deeper into the tree.

Dual spec increased the number of people using their class like a hybrid.

Restricting dual spec would just make people pick one role and stick to it, as by WotLK, you basically can’t make an effective hybrid spec.

Thank you blizzard. My hybrid spec might still have a place in wrath. Was sure unrestricted dual-spec like it was originally would kill it outright. Hopefully they go with an approach like I suggested with spec-locking for an instance ID on the various dual-spec request threads.

Your “hybrid” spec might still have a place? What hybrid spec do you mean? The only “sorta” hybrid spec left is feral.

Blizz missed an opportunity to keep a larger player base by not offering it at TBC launch, and now they are going to double down on it? Are they all tanks spamming LFG chat selling tanking runs?

How restrictive are we talking? A thirty min cooldown? Fine. Anything longer than an hour you might as well pencil me in for playing Dragon Quest Builders 2.

Dude, this…

It’s like they know the game exists. But haven’t been around for its maturation either time.

Considering the speed clear crowd will literally rotate characters entirely if a restriction exists; worse this behavior will then become normalized.

If blizzard adds restrictions I can see that choice becoming a problem.

There are better ways to handle this; namely talking with WCL and asking them to invalidate any clear that swaps spec or character.

There now we can have swap spec and parse without forced swaps.

I don’t remember if it is. Right now there is a good middle ground feral spec that satisfies both tank and dps, and most people use this spec.
In wrath, I think cat and bear talents become too separated to where for min/max you would have to swap specs entirely. Not being allowed to do this at any time is actually a setback compared to BC.

1000g toll is the restriction.
No changes needed.

Dreamstate resto is the only other hybrid I can even think of, and wotlk will immediately kill it.

Wild growth, the new aoe heal, is at the very bottom of the resto tree. Way too good not to have.

“the people who this refers to aren’t good enough players, so they don’t matter”

But honestly I think they will put it in also.

That’s not what I said at all.

I like this idea. I am certainly guilty of being a boss to boss talent swapper. It’s efficient and powerful, perhaps too much so.

Beyond that, dual spec is fine.

Dual spec is a key feature that should be cherished and not changed for any reason. The most important influence it has is allowing people to get more out of their class with little to no effort, it incentivizes people to play different roles which is great. If there are changes, Do Not Restrict Us. Make it available on launch? That’s a start.
