I thought blizzard added the toggle because they decided after endless complaints about ganking and camping on pvp servers and server after server became single faction as people transferred off that most people didn’t want pvp servers despite claiming they did and rolling on them
In a game with attunement processes that require lots of dungeon runs making it easier to find groups is at cross purposes to the game. I disagree.
It’s crazy to think it will ever be easy or convenient. I get that you think the grind is about not finding a tank or healer and not doing a dungeon but I think the grind is actually playing the game and doing the dungeons multiple times to get the rep etc.
We have different thresholds on this. I respect your view but hopefully you can appreciate why I may think dual speccing is a slippery slope that undermines the core mechanics of the game.
My dislike of QoL changes and “fixes” is not the things themselves. It’s the perception of the degradation of the game and the players attitudes that come with the continuing demand for the things.
From my perspective, the paid boosts already brought in a significant amount of people who don’t really like the game design of TBC and the go go go mentality of the later game expansions. This sucks.
I experienced it once. I don’t begrudge you the things you want, but I wish they could remain separate things - like leaving TBC alone and fixing things in wotlk.
Ultimately if history repeats itself I will just do something else because the game other people want stopped being fun.
I don’t think it was ever the intention of the devs to create content that many people waited for hours or sometimes couldn’t find a tank or healer to actually do. I think they created dungeons with the expectation that players would actually do them. I think they discovered the problems and introduced changes to attempt mitigate those problems. Just like the removed the dead zone for hunters after realizing it was a mistake the introduced dual spec and others things to correct errors. You act like the original devs were gods and classic is a holy relic. The devs were flawed humans that released a good but flawed game that they changed as they realized their errors.
What you don’t seem to realize is in Vanilla and BC there were many dps players that gave up on doing a dungeon when they couldn’t find a group at all and outleveled it with solo play. I don’t think that was part of the devs planned grind
It’s too late. The changes have been added and the classic devs have announced that they are considering more. This isn’t the game you subbed for. I guess you’re going to quit then.
There’s also the alternative of going back to Classic. If Bliz make changes that players feel seriously divert from the spirit of the game they may end up migrating back to Classic - or heading to private servers.
Or they may like the changes … and stay on. I suspect much of what draws and keeps people to Classic (while retail bleeds out players) is the fact that people don’t always want what they say they want, and if they got their list of “QoL changes” they may well end up finding the game, bland unchallenging, and boring - just as many do retail.
Choices without impact and cost don’t feel like choices and don’t feel interesting.
And one less Tank … going well so far (admittedly a tiny sample size) ;p
An irony of this is that when I do pug I pug as a Tank. The reason I do is because of the cost of respeccing to DPS. I raid as a Tank but I don’t enjoy Tanking for pugs. I’d change specs to dps and only pug occasionally if I had a dual spec option.
I don’t believe you for a second. Every no changer on this thread accepted the paid boost and the store bought mount as well as several other minor changes.
To be fair I was being tongue in cheek. But if it ends up changing the dynamic of the game too much I would ditch it. It would depend how much fun I was having playing - something I can only guess at currently. A lot of the draw is social. There will be a change that is the straw that broke the camels back for me. I don’t want to go all the way to Cata again before making that call.
When blizz announced perma-classic servers I thought they’d be a few playable realms. I believed the people that claimed they wanted to stay classic. Even though I had no intention of staying there or cloning any alts I thought enough people would. I was truly surprised when so few did that the servers were dead. I won’t make that mistake again. Almost no one will go back to classic if dual spec is added and almost no one will quit.
That or find someone to help fund your respecs like my guild does. As an example we have our token ret paladin raid as ret, but he does heroics as prot to help us fill in the tank need. For some of our guildies who wanted heroics as well. Donations for the respec pool are voluntary based, it’s also what will be used to fund guild bank tabs when those come out.
The only impact my spec makes is the type of content I’m able to have fun doing. I’m not going to pvp as combat and get steamrolled, and I’m not going to raid as sub because it’s literally bottom of the list for dps.
So i get to respec every time i want to do a dungeon or pve…
