Very true. All of the inconveniences and time sinks are what actually create a social-feeling game. Having the boat pull up at Menethil at 2AM and having a dozen folks jump off the boat and another dozen file onto it is so unique. Having to wait around, wander around, be inefficient, compete or cooperate for mobs. It makes you notice others and rely on them, forming little friendships or rivalries. At the end of the day, this is what makes classic great. The content and 20yo zones — the nostalgia aspect — is actually a much smaller reason why classic is successful imo. If they released retail content but made the game slow and sometimes painful again, I’d jump back into retail in a heartbeat for new content. But the instaqueue, no-speaking groups, anonymous nature of retail makes it soulless.
Dual spec hardly impacts that element of the game. If a change diminishes cooperation, competitiveness, or social necessity, then it should be reconsidered. But otherwise I have zero problem tweaking and changing classic to make it a living, breathing game. I don’t want to play in a museum.
Yah and everyone knows giving more people freedom to play different roles is just a terrible thing for the community. In vanilla everyone just loved being locked into 1 specific role and having to spend countless amounts of gold just to swap specs for 1 boss fights or a few bgs. You nailed it. It’s so vanilla to be miserable. Get out of here with that nonsense. You #nochanges crowd are so odd. Y’all choose the dumbest things to be upset about blizzard not changing but then the things that actually ruin classic y’all seem to keep quiet about.
All of us making such a commotion regarding this topic are NOT completely against dual spec. Maybe for Era yes of course but not for these Anniversary realms as I do think there are benefits to having dual spec. in Vanilla. What we ARE against is how it is implented where you don’t need to visit a city/resting area, inn, or your trainer in order to change to your other spec. If you don’t understand why this is a bad thing please refer to my explanation on this forum post:
Well, that ship has sailed – Dual Spec is here and you “I LIKE DUAL SPEC BUT I WANT USING IT TO BE MORE INCONVENIENT” clowncars lost this #SomeChanges debate.
It literally has 0 effect on the difficulty, playability, or any other factor in the game. All it does is encourage people to play different specs. It also brings in players to very dead classic servers, which id imagine y’all would encourage. This isn’t game breaking changes. It won’t ruin classic and it won’t even change it in the slightest, outside of providing some comfortability for players to the different specs.
