I don’t know how many of these players here actually complaining about how Dual Spec will “Turn the game into retail” or any other such comment.
All I can remember when dual spec was added and players dropped that 1k we were RELIEVED.
No longer did we have to respec after raid night to PvP spec and be railroaded the entire week into playing one spec, no longer did we have to scratch at the bottom of the barrel to find tanks because none of them wanted to spend gold to respec.
Players act as if adding Dual Spec was some game breaking change, and I’m sorry but it wasn’t. Neither was LFG group finder, or being able to queue for BG’s from anywhere.
You want to know the cold hard truth? Blizzard never broke the game, the community changed. Players sit here and cry about “Retail this, classic that” and it is the most toxic example of how our community has changed for the worse.
Sure some content hasn’t been the hottest, but blizzard is doing their best to provide us with the best gameplay experience they can and sitting here crying about changes that have happened already aren’t going to make the clock roll back and undo them.
Dual Spec will benefit the community greatly and there are many other changes that could be made that would help re-balance the community; but ya’ll would rather sit here and bite at each others necks and focus on the downsides.
If dual spec gets added early, it will just end up being another addition to the game that gets some people agitated and upset for a week then it will all settle down again. You might get 3 or 4 people per server that will “quit” over it. Negligible.
I agree with you 150% I’ve been arguing for dual spec even before burning crusade was even lodged back I wanted dual spec in the game in classic.
I don’t see a single Badd consequence for putting door spec in the game with the exception of possibly one.
Where the top top top 10% of guilds would want certain clauses to have default certain specs and maybe certain tank fights.
Would be a little bit easier because the in fights you don’t need to tanks the other tank could switch to his DPS spec but realistically honestly depending on the class were talking about such as a ret paladin cough cough.
The DPS isn’t going to increase that much let’s be real And I say this as a protection paladin and mained a retribution paladin in original burning crusade.
Yes retribution paladins are better but they don’t actually get good until wrath That’s just the cold hard truth.
So honestly it wouldn’t affect things that much it really wouldn’t I’ve talked to numerous players about And I there is not been 1 not 1 single player that tells me O dual spec would be a terrible idea.
So there is this whole immersion versus quality argument going on now for months…. I mean ya I guess it’s a nice bonus thing added? But the player playing the class that can switch specs must also gear them up.
That’s a lot of extra cost and work for something you didn’t want to play when given only one choice?
Quite honestly if someone says they shouldn’t add dual spec they are just gatekeeping to be toxic. We were never going to get the real classic experience anyways, it cannot be recreated.
I find it hilarious that we pushed and begged for dual spec years ago, and now a very small amount of people don’t want one the best quality of life changes ever made to the game to be added in.
The answer to how it would affect the game has been given time and time again. When you raid, and you don’t have enough healers, you don’t get to say “we need more dps shaman and druids go into X spec”. Like imagine if Vanilla had dual spec. 8 tanks? No problem! Change specs!
Sure you can just portal into town and re-summon. But that’s an extra hop, an extra step that people will find painful. And that’s the point. The game wasn’t designed around dual spec. If you want to do it, you need to pay a price. 100g. re-spec and spec back. If it’s not big deal to you, then why fight so hard for it?
The problem is the debate about dual-spec IS a debate and the pro-side of the argument is dishonestly choosing to ignore criticisms in order to get a feature they want.
If it were some black and white thing like oh not having dual spec is being used exploitatively or something or doesn’t align with the original dev vision then it would be different, but this IS a BIG debate and so they should not make the change lightly.
I don’t think they should make it at all, I think anything we can do to make peoples “main” spec seem more tied to that person’s player identity is a good thing in this particular MMO where that was supposed to matter.
Yes it’s possible to resspec for 50g with addons anyways, so at most if they want to add something like a talent template that your class trainer “remembers” when you go to pay the fee then I guess fine… but having gold sinks in the game is generally a good thing in a game where money is printed by NPCs… and doubling down on identity and increasing resistance to swapping around all the time is good too.
