Drums of Battle [TBC] - another opportunity to err on the side of fun

Doesn’t have to be an item could be any profession.

Min/Max is just that.

If you get rid of drums “everyone” will get what ever else they can to get that small advantage.

You don’t want to be a LW? Then don’t be.

You want to be competitive? Then be prepared for what that takes.

If the next best thing doesn’t require say… a cloth-wearer to level a crafting profession in an armor type they can’t even use, I’m all for that.

I refuse to drop tailoring (which to my understanding offers some bis items to the crafter) ONLY to craft/use drums.

Drums of battle are the world buffs of TBC. #nonochanges

#1: You level up Engineering for a bunch of different reasons.
#2: Then you level up JC to get the BoP gems.
#3: Then you level up Enchanting for the ring enchants.
#4: Then you level up LW for the Drums.

I don’t remember which patch included the BoP gems, but presumably you would need to repeat steps 2-4 every time a major content patch droppped (except ZA).

There’s some reasons to jump into Tailoring and Blacksmithing now and again for some important pieces of equipment.

Okay, yeah. That’s a lot of farming so that you can reach optimization.

I don’t really care what #nochangers have to say about TBC. Classic isn’t going anywhere. TBC is a different machine entirely.

I didn’t play in vanilla, but my understanding of TBC grafted BIS gear is that it’s bop AND requires you to retain the profession in order to wear the item. You cannot drop tailoring and wear your spellstrike gear for example.

While this is true of Tailoring and Blacksmithing for example, it is not true of things like Ring enchants, JC exclusive gems, and a few other perk type items, unless Blizzard changes them.

comparing world buffs to drums is a big stretch. World buffs are a massive substantial boost to dps. Drums are a SMALL boost to dps. It is noticeable, sure, but not using LW won’t make or break a boss.

if 5% attack/cast speed is breaking the game for you then I really don’t know what to say.

Playing/prepping properly will always trump drums in TBC.
