Am I blind or is the container just not there on Classic TBC prepatch?

I can see it until right before I get down there, it disappears either as I try to open it or mid attempt.

I accidentally posted to a very old thread about this so I am reposting here:
Mistuhvick is having this problem as well. As soon as you cross over from Silverpine Forest to The Great Sea, the chest and fissure disappear. You can still breath from the fissure but it is invisible. If you are fast and start to loot the chest, it will disappear before the cast finishes and send back an error. As soon as you swim back over to Silverpine, the chest and fissure appear again.
I tried approching from every direction but this happened over and over again.
Unfortunately there is a wall behind you so you can’t be in Silverpine and still loot the chest.
Another druid came along and was experiencing the same thing.

Did you try dueling near it? I found somewhere that it fixes it.
Having the same problem, I must have tried for a half-hour, no way to get it. Has anyone been able to go back and get it later, or is it still bugged?
Can confirm. Same behaviour here. As soon as you get close to it, you zone into The Great Sea and it disappears.
Best I was able to do was quickly zone into Silverpine and back into the Sea and right click the chest, but it disappears long before the opening cast completes and it fails with invalid target

At least I am not the only one this is happening to.
this is so annoying, and I’m sure it will never be resolved
They have more important things to prioritize like making sure nobody gets any honor during prepatch.
This is definitely a known issue. I submitted a bug report as well. I wonder if it’s a layering problem? It’s been happening in multiple zones now where I walk somewhere and all mobs around me disappear for a moment.

Atleast I can breathe underwater at the invisible fissure.
I went to the alliance location in Westfall to finish the quest. Annoying, but at least there is some way to do it.

IDK if i’m trying to run that far either, but lets be honest it’ll be quicker than waiting for a fix.
Also: Dueling did not work for me.
ALSO also: looks like servers are coming down so maybe that’ll work
Based off the description of the issue here, this is a phasing bug.
It’s the exact same behavior you see in retail where a gathering node is in another phase, you can see it from a distance but can’t go up to it and gather it because it’ll disappear.
Hopefully they fix it!
