Do you all still like the Horde vs Alliance theme or would you rather they drop it and allow us to play with whoever we want.
What would that mean you think? Would class/race compositions become overpowered or would it balance out or not matter at all except for a bigger player pool to play with?
i’d rather they drop it. the whole alliance vs horde just seems like a formality at this point. would also help with ally lfg qs if lfg were merged
Horde vs. Alliance is essential to warcraft. It should NEVER be “dropped”. This is a blood fued. The two sides can NEVER reconcile.
That’s silly imo, considering all the times we help eachother to beat the big bads…

Big bads that threaten our entire existience, sure there’s a bit of wiggle room. But dropping the faction barrier completely would be a nail in the coffin for all RPG and lore elements of this game.
I don’t think so, I believe it will add to it.
I think it will make the game better, can keep the faction you like BTW.
I believe it’s past time and overdue that we’re able to play with one another, communicate with one another or kill one another if Warmode is enabled.
I understand why Classic needs the barrier but I think that same barrier in retail doesn’t make sense anymore and only hurts the games potential.
Psure Rehgar, Valeera, Broll, and Varian were teammates in the arena. (Orc, Blood Elf, Night Elf, Human for you non-nerds).
To me, arena, it makes sense lore wise to have a free for all, anything goes and no factions.
They won’t do it though until things are in life support.

Game will prolly go on life support if SL is a flop.
Tin foil hat theory.
I could see Mike’s new company/game siphoning people if it’s a good MMO that cares about the game first.
So, by removing the thing that makes defines the Warcraft is going to… add to the game?
It defined Warcraft initially and still defines Classic but we’re beyond that now.
The faction war just feels forced at this point and stale.
What are you talking about? The just had a FOURTH war.
That’s your opinion, and if you feel that way, there are plenty of games without a faction war… if this games bores you that much.
We also had a truce, signed a treaty. We helped an Orc who then worked with us and a Tauren but you’re saying we should still hate eachother?
Why?
One of the issues (in my opinion) with WoW for a long time now is the lack of it being RPG. So the whole horde vs. alliance thing these days doesn’t make much sense. But then I guess you’d have to scrap out BGs?
You could have bgs and play with either faction cause the goal of the game still remains.
I’ve mentioned in other threads that there is no reason they CAN’T HAVE BOTH. It is clear that there are factions on both sides that want peace, and factions on both sides that want war. So why not let players CHOSE which faction they support?
All it would require game mechanics wise is a friggin tabard. Let’s say my DK allies with Anduin and wants peace. He sends me as an ambassador to the horde. I start off “unfriendly” and have to do quests to earn rep. It wouldn’t even require a lot of work because you can repurpose existing quests.
So let’s say there is a quest where the horde would go “find the Alliance spy” and kill him. The Ambassador can STILL do that quest, because that spy is now technically a traitor to the Alliance. One line of dialogue change from the quest giver and the quest just plays out normal.
Now say you are a “BUT THE HORDE HAS TO DIE!” type. Well, you side with Greymane, who thinks Anduin is being an idiot but who won’t directly go against him. So now you are a saboteur of the peace initiative. You just continue on as before, being an murder hobo against the horde.
The solution is so painfully obvious. Exactly HOW MANY neutral factions already exist in this game? The tabard rep mechanic already exists. It is very little actual work to resolve the issue.
