Drinking Change

#nochanges
I don’t know how this was in vanilla, but has anyone else noticed that the drinking has been changed. Why? I don’t want to have the game changed especially into launch especially something this drastic for me.
It used to be one could time drinking right before the tick, stop and drink for a split second and get the full benefit of sitting and drinking. One could essentially walk and drink if you were OCD enough to watch the timer and use lots of drinks.
I used this all the time, and was one of those things that gave me an edge in dungeons and in general all around. If it had been taking out before TBC launch, I would have assumed that this bug was taken out in TBC Vanilla, but it wasn’t. I was still doing this until Tuesday’s reset a week and a half ago.
Needed to vent on the forums, as this is seriously bugging me. Not even listed in the patch notes. No Google searches, no forum posts. Surely it effected a small percentage of the player base, but the change is pretty big. I haven’t figured out the new mana model, but it looks to be one needs a full cycle to get the benefit, meaning if you sit and drink halfway through the cycle, you have to wait for that half cycle, then another full cycle before getting the first mana tick from drinking back.

It’s still beta. Blizzard will fix it.

If I’m understanding what you’re saying, this is a issue with retail data still being in the game.

There was a change in…BFA? To how drinking worked so that mana users couldn’t drink and regain mana so quickly behind a pillar, something about it starting off slow and building up rather than an even tick of mana .

If this isn’t what you’re describing then i apologize. Though its possible I suppose that there could be conflict somewhere with that change and how water used to work.

Would you stop that already…I’m really starting to believe you at this point lmao.

In retail there is a delay now before water does anything. The first few seconds you get nothing and then you start getting mana. This makes it harder to sneak in short duration drinks. Is this what you are experiencing? I haven’t payed much attention to it but that is definitely a very retail thing and doesn’t belong in TBC.

I remember is being Era correct, it was changed late TBC maybe around 2.3 to “NERF” Druids.

BUT could be from a different expac, hmm (mabye it was specific to arena) I remember something on it just cant remember what.

Working as intended. Nothing to see here.

Why? Are people abusing drinking in retail or something? Holy god. I mean, of all the things they could change and fix and they changed how drinking works???

respect for having the bag space/willpower to even do that
i have had the tick addon for like 1 yr and never even thought of that

I’m not 100% sure but I believe it was simply to increase the difficulty of Mythic+ and arena. In Mythic+ you had to plan the timing on your drinks more carefully and in arena it was harder to find the time to get a meaningful drink.

I’m kind of indifferent on it, but I do get annoyed if I sit to drink and have to move 3 seconds later, getting nothing out of it. I only played 3 weeks of SL so I didn’t have to deal with it long. I did not enjoy SL and delayed drinking mana regen had nothing to do with that.

I thought you were going to tell me that I have to stop drinking whiskey while playing WoW and I’m here to tell you that is just not going to happen.

This change to drinking seems to be the new normal as these changes are still in place in the retail version of the game. At least now I know. I can understand the changes for PVP arenas and Mythic+ dungeons, but the effect on TBC PVE is trivial especially compared to other min/maxing strategies - stacking warriors in Classic. Naxx lasted less than two hours after launch and it wasn’t due to priests walking and drinking.

Drinking is the way it was when we finished TBC.

I was able to get the drink benefit while running, I just had to spam click my water while doing so, went through about 10 waters and got 5 ticks of water mana regen on my hunter.

Me too. They patched it back the very next week Tuesday on a server reset. Yah!
