Yeah, that can’t play the game the way they want. They have to follow the meta made on pservers. This new playerbase is not even “playing” the game. LOL
Sunday was yesterday.
Player mindset has changed to a more fast paced with no downtime. The sooner the DPS can start the sooner the boss dies. Casters also used to wand to kill time before they could actually start on DPS.
Private servers aren’t the only cause of this, it’s the nature of how WoW and MMOs have evolved. You don’t see Retail WoW raids waiting for 3 sunders to start DPS, and everyone has the ability to DPS on the move.
They are. Just not your way.
It’s not my way. I know I had way more fun in vanilla then I have ever had in classic.
Because that’s all you knew at the time.
We’re in an age after the Action Combat MMO boom. You might not have played Guild Wars, Tera, Wildstar, Black Desert, but others have and it influenced their opinion on how a game should feel.
I’m not a fan of the min-max world buffs+consumables required mentality, but I do enjoy knocking out both BWL and MC in a couple hours instead of taking two 4 hour raid nights to clear BWL alone.
Dont even have sunder in retail lol.
Yeah, there has been no tanking issues now on retail for a few expansions.
I have played those MMO’s and many more. I don’t see it, I still think people are just following the meta and not even trying to have fun.
Sure, completing MC/BWL in one night in 2 hours or less is nice. But then what? everyone just logs off and go play something else. LOL
In terms of how much of an upgrade it is for the individual player it is biggest for Bears/Cats as they struggle on hit.
In a raid setting it should be MT -> Rogues/Cats/OT Bears -> DPS Warriors -> Hunters.
Even then its more useful for feral over rogue as they get hit/wep skill in talents.
If you are just offtanking adds, then the DFT is not really benefiting the raid very much since you could do that no problem in pretty sub par gear. I am pure dps spec and I offtank adds quite often for my guild when needed. Doesn’t require much
Unless they get dodged and parried for the first 2 attacks bear snap threat is fine on bosses.
Attacking at 1 attack per second with the best boss mitigation and threat only surpassed by a geared TF fury prot Im not sure what bear tanks you’ve seen.
Depends on what your cat’s performance and your Bear’s job in guild. Don’t see the reason to give these to a bear if he is only tanking adds. If you are maintanking bosses, then of course give him high prio.
I dont think that’s the case. The vast majority of people I run into are really really bad at the game. Like, they mess up basic things whenever they have to think for themselves because something deviated from a guide online.
The playerbase isn’t making a decision to play this way, they dont have the thought capacity to do anything other than follow a guide step by step and all the guides are min-max stuff telling them to do x, y, z. So that’s the kind of gameplay stuff we see. It would be a better game without the information available, because it taints the experience.
The NPC meme is probably a pretty accurate representation of the WoW playerbase these days.
Its a clear given in a loot council setting that you don’t give a bad cat DFT, they can perform well without it but with it they are able to use so many pieces they wouldn’t have been able to before hand (Circle of Applied Force for example)
And yeah if the Bear is not a common main tank they can roll/bid etc with the rogues and cats which I think I stated. MT -> Cat/Rogue/Bear OT -> Warrior dps
Yeah the amount of people that just copy wowhead guides like gospel and don’t have the critical thinking to find viable alternatives to items instead of whining about not getting bis is really sad.
LCing this way would be really, really bad.
I argue the decision to have OT’s > DPS though. Rarely is threat ever an issue when offtanking adds and would be more useful to kill the boss faster.
Order we did for my group was:
Rogue > Rogue > Rogue > Feral OT > Warrior MT > Warrior DPS > Warrior DPS > Rogue
Personally I think it should be going to rogues/good ferals before you give it to the tanks, unless you are actually having threat issues (From gear.)
Hunters are last prio ofc.
Should just shard it and avoid the drama.
Im sorry if I got this wrong maybe you meant < but you stated OT > DPS then made an argument against OT’s?
OT’s do DPS and DFT allows them to increase their DPS and TPS whilst sacrificing less mitigation or being able to use more TPS gear. This is especially so on bears as they get shafted for hit until BotSF - DFT - BoA.
Cats are the same, getting DFT allowed my simmed dps to go up around 35-50 depending on the fight as it let me use CoaF and better Bracers.
Offtanks are people too and its unfair to give them less loot despite it still being huge for them because they aren’t the one hitting every boss. If your OT was in all greens when your MT died on vael for popping reck and deathwish too early or getting clapped by broodlord then you wouldn’t have a good time.
