Drake Crests Drops? *UPDATED*

So I farmed about 40 seeds last night. I got 2 each for about 20 of them, then I got 3 seeds with 1 each. After that, they stopped dropping, I stuck around for another ~17 seeds and didn’t get a single drake, only flightstones. At first I was telling myself its just bad RNG, but then I figured I hit some cap, though my guildies are hitting 50-60 before they stopped receiving, then I see another post of this guy talking about he has 86/90 and stopped getting them.

Then I camped the zone farming rares/events for 3.5 hours and I didn’t get a single drake, before finally giving up and going to bed. Sitting at 42 drakes and not sure what’s going on.

Is anyone able to clarify this system? I raid Mythic, so I know it’s not absolutely crucial to get capped this week, but I would still like some clarification considering everyone I talked to has amnesia on things they do in the game, when I ask its “lol idk bro”. Its just a little frustrating.

It appears that there is some weird cooldown associated with seed farm (for some people). So when I got home yesterday I played for about 5 hours and right when I started I logged in and received rep in the following order:

1st seed: 500 rep, 4 crests
2nd seed: 250 rep, 4 crests
3rd seed: 250 rep, 2 crests
4th seed: 225 rep, 4 crests
5th seed: 10 rep, 1 crest
6th seed: 5 rep, 1 crest
7th seed + additional 10 seeds after that: 0 or 5 rep, no crests

At this point I figured “Ok there’s some weird daily cap.” So I went around and did some questing and treasures I found from Naowh’s weakaura that I hadn’t found yet. During this time I only received rep and didn’t get any drake crests. Also killed a few rares and got no crests and decided to stop.

After a few hours (roughly 3 hours), I logged back in and got a seed, at which point I received crests from every seed until I hit 90/90 cap, and during all this I hit renown 8 and finished the night with 105 drake crests.

Something definitely weird going on with this system.

whelps crests seem more rare than draks crests idk why

I have over 90 whelp crests, and the exchange apparently exists, though I cannot find it, so that way I could make up some ground by exchanging.

Just an FYI - I got whelp crests from doing the Dreamsurge last night as well, several of them in fact. I actually got tons of them from doing quests, and I have this situation where I have over 90 whelp crests, but only ~20 of them have counted toward my weekly cap. I think thats something to do with one time quest rewards (non weekly). I have no issue with Whelplings other than the fact that I cannot find where I can exchange Whelplings to Drakes at a 6:1 Ratio as it was stated online.

IIRC you can’t upgrade the crests until your item level is higher than that tier in every slot.

I currently have 92 drake’s dreaming crests and I’ve already spent a few. It’s weird - I have 92, but it says “77/90,” No idea why. I also have 25 whelpling’s dreaming crests, though I’ve spent quite a few of those, too. It also says 77/90.

Can you provide insight on how you arrived at 92 drakes?

Maybe what number you stopped receiving them from seeds, or specifically where you got them from other than seeds?

Its cool if you can’t recall, I expect that much at this point hahaha.

EDIT: I know if you’re Renown 10+ you’ve probably received 15 or 30 from renown rewards, which I have seen in the UI. That would probably explain your deficit. Single time rewards do not appear to count for cap.

I really don’t remember specifics. I’ve done all the quests and WQs and did a lot of seed events (folks were SUPER helpful calling them out on my realm). I think I’ve done maybe 3 superblooms. I’ve grabbed any treasures I see. Not sure where else I could’ve picked some up.

I’m currently renown 8, halfway to 9.

I believe renown 8 gives you the first set of 15 drakes.

Yeah, I think I did get a decent chunk there. This is all on my night elf priest, btw - so no human diplomacy. I did make sure to grab the Darkmoon Faire buff a couple times, particularly when using tokens, but haven’t consistently used it. And haven’t been using any contract.

The 15 you get at renown 8 don’t count against the weekly total. (Assuming you’ve made it that far.)

What I’m trying to figure out is why there is such a low cap on the whelp crests @ 90 I believe? Sitting at 5 renown with the dreamers, I loot stuff and it shows whelp crests in the the loot pop up but I don’t receive them since I’m capped already? They should be going to my mailbox or something.

Thanks. It’s helpful to know that you remember “generally” everything you’ve done. I don’t blame anyone for not remembering specifics, if I wasn’t having this issue I wouldn’t remember either because it wouldn’t feel that important.

I’ll keep a closer eye on it today and pop back in here if I notice anything odd with them. Hope you get yours figured out! Kind of frustrating when this unexplained stuff happens, and isn’t happening to everyone.

For sure. I guess an important question is that yesterday was my first day of really trying to farm. Do you recall stopping receiving anything on Tuesday night, then wednesday after reset receiving more? Part of me also is saying it might be daily.

I’m guessing there has been an issue with drops and / or the final Talley per week. Not sure if we can hold a set number at a time or only loot a specific amount per week

I can also confirmed that I’ve earned drakes from content outside of the emerald dream. Maybe try that and see?

Do you recall what content that is? World bosses, Mythic 0, Dreamsurge?

I’ll have some more time tonight to do more content but some direction would be nice.

Oh thats right - OP, I also did the dreamsurge and fyrakk event in ohnahran plains. And the time rift weekly. Think that’s all though.
