Ima be real I haven’t had a single problem with quest mobs in green gear. This really sounds like a skill issue if you can’t figure out how to have your void lord tank mobs
I would complain more about the lack of movement we have than healing. I hate having to take damage just to feel like I don’t have cinder blocks strapped to my feet. Mage gets 5 blinks and 2 blocks and all instant cast spells lol, granted dots are instant cast but we’re practically sitting targets without pre-coordinated demonic circles
its not a skill issue. We have no passive survivability. Sure you can go around popping cooldowns but who else needs to do that of the other classes just to kill a few open world mobs?
I just made a spriest and you know whats insane? They, baseline, have Vampiric embrace and devouring plague healing for 25% and 30% of damage dealt respectively. Meanwhile our siphon life talent for corruption is FIVE PERCENT. Literally healing for 3-4k a tick absolutely worthless.
For many years you used to be able to throw dots on mobs gathering 5 or so and be able to drain tank once you have them all grouped up to make sure you dont die. Now you can only barely do this if you use soul rot.
This is extremely pathetic game design and I dont feel like the people making our class even like warlocks as a concept.
It really is. Warlocks are one of the tankiest classes in the entire game right now, it almost feels like when we had mop demon armor. You have access to;
Voidwalker to tank mobs
shadow bulwark (which can auto activate at 20% hp)
soul leech shield
unending resolve
dark pact (+80khp every second during with Zevrim’s Resilience)
Health funnel
65% heal every 60 seconds + 20% increased health for 12 sec from DMhealthstones
and healing from phantom singularity
If you’re using all that AND drain life (optional +30% from Deaths embrace as well) you should not be having a problem with open world mobs at all. You can also kite with soul burn into instant gateway.
I just personally wish that there was a bit more base movement so we’re not forced to pick between burning rush or planting demonic circles before combat just to kite things around.
Voidwalker does not hold aggro its aoe was nerfed into the ground. Soul leech is garbage. we have 18% damage reduction from physical damage with armor (at 593 ilevel) and 10% from soul link.
If you sit there and baby it yes, you can very slowly deal damage and have your voidwalker tank, unless you decide to not use soul burn for health funnel and run out of health because soul leech and drain life are dog water.
Felguard can actually hold aoe threat, voidwalker cannot. your dots easily pull aggro as aff and its not even a discussion as destro.
Like i said though, without blowing cooldowns that other classes do not need to use, you get beaten to death with 5 mobs on you before your dots kill them.
yes there is kiting. Yes there are cooldowns. Thats not my problem. We have lost something intrinsic to what a warlock is and everyones acting like its fine because we have a few more burst defensive cooldowns. Screw those. Screw them all.
We just got a hotfix win for the tank pets for better aggro.
thats good to hear ill have to test that.
Well the whole point is balance though. We USED to be the tank caster, but mages are tankier than us AND have waaaaaay more mobility. Leaving us the single most least mobile class in the game AND killing our self heals is the exact antithesis of balance. Theres nothing balanced about it. It just leaves us as easy targets and pretty much gimp.
Can we just steal master channeler from Season of Discovery? Make Soul Burn increase the healing on Drain Life and remove the channel, but put it on a long CD.
Yeah I agree. Drain life is super weak now.
However, our demonic healthstones (with correct specs that grant more healing and soul leech) + soul leech + demonic resolve + dark pact (up to 80% of one’s HP with the right specs) + shadow bulwark from voidwalker sacrifice + fel armor soul leech heals make up for it and makes us surprisingly bulky.
I still think a Soulburned drain life is still terrible and is not worth casting.
Lol, took all of 15 seconds.
Drain life isn’t worth casting. Ignore PVP, even in PVE out questing or whatever, it’s not worth casting. It heals for virtually nothing, even if you do it to a pack with soul rot. It’s absolutely useless now. I cast it 5 times in a row just to test, full channel, and my health bar barely moved.
Drain life is a fairly long channel that stops you attacking and can be interrupted with ease. It should actually do some healing and be worth casting, else what is the point?
what do you mean? it gives a massive 200k shield at the end of the cast! thats like a whole filler spell or dot tick!
Drain Life does nothing anymore. I’m going to take it off my bar, it’s worthless. There isn’t any point in even having that ability now.
just an update on my testing, feels much better. so no complaints there.
for AOE? i just started leveling my aff.lock a couple days ago (currently lvl 73), and my voidwalker doesn’t hold AOE aggro at all. pretty much everything but its primary target peels off as soon as i do any damage. that plus this drain life nerf has me really not enjoying my warlock. might have to shelve it for the expansion.
There could be 1 reason to use drain life - one of the PvP talents causes each tick to reduce an opponent’s damage by 9% - so this adds up to around 36%.
It’s probably only good for 1 vs 1, but channelled spells are asking for spell locks.
So i was checking my logs today on drain life and did notice something
My drain soul does a total of 16k over 4.3 seconds. Checking my logs it hit for roughly an average of 3k (give or take a tiny bit). 4x3k is roughly 13k. But again ROUGHLY 3k seen a couple 4k in there). So the math pretty much lines up
Drain life is also on a 4.3 cast. Says it does 4300 over that time with 500% as health
So using the above math I SHOULD see ROUGHLY 1k every “tic” But Im only seeing 400 ish. with heals being 1600.
TO ME its acting like its only doing half the damage it should be according to tooltip. Still lower than I like but better than what we are getting
I miss inevitable demise as a affliction lock. Not only did it hit hard, it also healed me good, making affliction my favorite spec.
I still got mortal coil, demonic healthstones and and dark pact, so I can still somewhat tanky but man do I miss drain life actually doing something.
Just so you know. In PvP, Warriors have a spammable slow.
That said, Warlocks are good in PvP.
Hell I just used the fel puppy only time I died was from accidental unmounting high in the sky all the way to 80 on my afflock lol
I should mention I am playing Soul Harvester and it feels much tankier than Hellcaller.
