Drain Life is 100% useless now

If this is your idea of balance, my DK, my Warrior and my Spriest heal for way more, more often.

I dont know how you take the single least mobile caster in the game, and leave them with less effective heals than some of the most mobile classes in game, and call that okay.

Unbelievable.

Warlock survivability is fine. You have soulburn into your crack rock for increased healing it provides, dark pact on a 1minute CD tied with either frequent donor to reduce its CD to 45 seconds or taking ichor of devils instead where it only sacrifices 5% of your pets total health.

If you are struggling keep in mind that you also have curse of exhaustion to help you kite, it’s pretty effective! Mortal coil that should be used mainly as a beefy 20% heal on a 45 second CD instead of as a way to interrupt someone. That’s what you have fear for. There are also health pots you can buy. I know things are relatively expensive right now but there’s tons of better ways to sustain yourself than using drain life.

You have unending resolve with strength of will to increase that damage reduction by a whopping 15% or dark accord to lower its cooldown by a chunky 45 seconds. You also have lifeblood to talent into if you need it, which provides you up to 8% leech for 20 seconds after you eat that crack rock. You should not be using drain life as your primary way to heal yourself.

To me it sounds like you should use your defensives more and rely on drain life less.

both me and my felguard were low hp, I wanted to SB/Health Funnel, took 3 full channels of Drain Life to get my hp up to where i could use Health Funnel, and then my demon died. Absolutely useless even in niche situations like that.

Please buff drain life, or at least the channeling speed

When a pet is low HP it is better to use fel domination and summon the same pet to replace your current one. You might have aggro for a second or two if you have the felguard out but he’ll get it back pretty quick.

Two scenarios:

  • pet low HP
  • use a shard for soulburn into a health funnel to lower your own HP
  • have to use either a rock or mortal coil and possibly drain life to get your HP back up. Or wait until the end of combat to eat.
  • You now have used either your 45 second CD on coil, used an extra shard, or are low HP because drain lifes healing isn’t worth the keybind click

Or…

  • pet low HP
  • use fel domination to resummon the very same pet, this does not cost you a soul shard
  • Mortal coil and your crack rock are not on cooldown

It’s less GCDs used and less cooldowns used to achieve basically the same thing.

It’s better than to use a soulburn + health funnel where you could be better utilizing that CD and your crack rock. Fel domination has its uses outside a quick resummon before a key starts!

i only got through 3 sentences before becoming infuriated. you must only do pve, because in pvp you get shadow locked for every single spell you cast then have to either use HS alone or sit damage and wait for shadow to unlock to use soulburn then healthstone and by that time you have just taken way more damage than you healed

What youre saying could be true is soulburn and healthstone werent on the gcd and werent shadowlocked

It’s 100% useless over 4.5 seconds  Soul Rot spreads the uselessness further.

this is an understatement lol. its hard enough getting off soul rot and then for it to be useless EVEN with healing from multiple targets is quite confusing.

it almost feels like soul rot drain life does the same healing as single target drain nothing, i mean drain life

Yup. Talking PvE, not PvP.

Drain life is defunct. Our healing budget has been allocated to our capstones and hero talents.

Hate to see it but it is what it is. Fingers crossed it comes back next expansion

they had to nerf our sustain for delves somehow. SMH
don’t think i’ve ever recalled seeing drain life this weak it’s not even worth to bind it

Buddy, the game is 90% pve. Everything is balanced around that first.

I finally played my lock for the first time in TWW content and was shocked at how poor Drain Life was healing for. It has NEVER been this slow at actually healing.

I agree, Blizzard did us dirty on Drain Life. I can cast it all day and it won’t hardly give me health back vs the mana I have to use.

When running legacy content, does drain life still fill you to max with one tic? That’s the only use I could think of so I can keep Burning Rush up 100% of the time. Otherwise, I’ll unbind it.

They need to add 3% of our maximum health as damage to drain life. This balances it across all scaling and at all levels. This should effectively (barring defensive cooldowns from the opponent) heal you for at least 15% of your maximum health per full channel.

No it doesnt. They nerfed that too.

Grrrr. Also, why doesn’t Dark Pact protect us from the damage from Burning Rush? I seem to remember it used to back in the day.

I’ve always hated drain life, I don’t even keep it on my bars. Drain soul should just get extra leech as a solution lol. But to be fair we have so many survivability tools it’s a joke.

We have “delay death by a few seconds” cooldowns but otherwise nothing when it comes to passive survivability like we are supposed to have. Warlocks used to be the best solo class and now im forced to switch to demonology just to do world quests because normal mobs hit so hard.
