10 man heroic is more punishable though if you have 2 people die in 10 man heroic depending on who it is its potentially a wipe. If you have 2 people die on 25 man heroic the pull 99% of the time is unaffected
if you read the original 10 man dev blog regarding 10 man tuning, they tuned the content to be more relaxed in terms of numbers because if 2 people died, because of 10 man’s res limitation, they couldn’t res them.
This is why 25 man bosses have 3.5x as much health, when they made 10 man they tried to make it as fair as possible which if they just tripled the numbers it wouldn’t be
so if you have 6 dps in my 10 man, and you have 18 dps in your 25 man and the 10 man had a boss with 10million hp, the 25 man would be 35million, it varies every so often with boss adds and such but that’s basically the formula
lol 2 people in a 10man is 20% of your raid so that is equivalent to saying 5 people dying in 25man. Which could be detrimental. common sense isn’t so common. 10 man is still alot eaiser then 25man. Only bad players think 10man is harder.
You forgot to increase the drop rate on 25 player too
And this is the problem they run into with balance, even though they try to balance things the same between 10 and 25 man, there’s some things that literally can’t scale linearly.
Like BR’s, there’s no way to have 2.5 BR’s per fight. So 10 mans end up worse off here. Similar a lot of CD’s became raid wide so 25 mans simply have more of them.
And then some mechanics simply end up easier or harder on one or the other size.
I mean, you can just coin flip a drop if it doesnt split evenly.
10 man should absolutely get 3 drops per boss if 25 man is getting 7. If you’re that worried that ‘oh, well 3 times 2.5 is 7.5’ then 50/50 an 8th drop.
Why does this have to be so complicated. You can set a baseline expectancy for loot output and normalize it for both sizes. Why isnt that how it is.
Because most people prefer 10 man so blizzard bribes people with loot to do 25 man.
It’s really that simple.
Except we’re here now because they’re catering to 10 man, rather than balancing it out appropriately?
I wouldn’t expect competency from blizzard at this point.
I’ve been saying that for longer than I can remember, but I kinda thought they had basic math grasped at least
sort of, as i’ve said before in the thread, the catering only extends to casters and only for this tier, they refuse to give 10 man the extra or at least a chance at one extra 391 item for some unknown reason
in dragon soul they are back to not being catered to at all and all they’ve gained is some alts with a legendary staff
This is a really bad take and 100% incorrect. In most senses - 25 man is harder then 10 man. Why would the easier way out be for “real raiders”. Are you just saying that because you can’t get into one…?
Most people don’t have to deal with recruitment whether it’s 10 or 25.
This tuning is going to incentivize 25 player groups to replace their regular raids with 10 player splits, at least until they’re done with dragonwraths.
Some of us joined 25 mans with the intention of eventually getting Dragonwrath sooner than they would in 10 mans. With these changes, you’re almost guaranteed to get the staff in a 12 week period as a caster dps unless the guild dissolves or does you dirty while in 25 man you may have to wait longer for a BiS weapon from raids that are harder to fill and have more raid-wiping variables. If you really want the staff like I do, you are better off being in a decent 10 man guild.
If you base your entire raiding experience off acquiring a single item why is that a problem?
I love the posts saying the average cata guild is gonna start doing splits over this lol. I’d guess 90% of the player base doesnt even know what that means.
Not only is that obviously silly, you’d give up a massive amount of player power from every other drop, unless you actually run 3 10 mans every week
this is been proved otherwise a million times already, please stop trying to bring up the “25m has greater error tolerance” point anymore because it is rly not true ( for hard fights like Rag, Lei-shen, Spine, Raden.". The hard dps check is there so that you cannot afford to lose a dps mid fight without brez.
Again, Heroic Lei-shen first kill had 5 players left when they killed him. It was not possible to have 1 dps on the floor during fight.
Great call, unironically. 10 man is harder than 25 man and anyone who has done both knows this is true. They should get rewarded a bit more for killing bosses without just brute forcing it with damage reduction cd’s. This only gets debated by 25 man raiders with fragile egos, the only somewhat challenging boss in t11 was Nef and the main wiping mechanic there is the crackle, 25 mans have 1-2 cd’s for every crackle, 10 mans take half of them raw.
Also, this will mean A LOT of staffs will drop, plenty for every raid regardless of which size you choose so if you’re a sweaty 25 man guild you can just stay with 25 man content and you’ll be fine.
If anything I said here hurt your feelings, just ask for an external from one of your 24 friends, you’ll survive cupcake.
Who cares what “a media” is hyped for?
