I saw a post back in July with the same problem I’m facing, but it seems as though the problem is still around.
The problem in question is since the prepatch, or expansion (not sure which) when diving at an angle the mount will try to auto balance, and tilt upwards so I end up flying horizontally. When I try to angle downwards my mount will now start to aim upwards to fly in a straight line instead of how I angle it.
It’s a minor issue, but I’m currently going back, and doing the races in the Dragon Isles for various achievements and this issue is really making some of these races to time on gold impossible. I’ll need to fly downwards to go under some rocks, but my mount now wants to go in a straight line, and ‘fight’ me causing me to faceplant into the rocks. It’s… frustrating to put it nicely.
I’ve used both the mounts we got in the Dragon Isles, and a few others to see if the results are different, but it seems the issue is new with the prepatch, or expansion.
Does it happen all the time, or just sporadically?
I get the same thing you are describing but it is only if I take off from water. Doesn’t matter how deep, if it’s water and just one foot is standing in it, flying will behave like that. Landing on dry ground and remounting fixes the issue.
This has happened since pre patch. Any sky riding mount wants to auto balance itself to a flush/level position, which is really annoying. I have to constantly hold right mouse button and tilt it slightly downwards to recharge vigor.
I’ve noticed it mostly when racing. Though that being said I have noticed it on occasion elsewhere.
While I understand what you’re saying during one said race last night I was high enough up in the air had I got knocked off my mount I would’ve died on landing, so least to say water wasn’t around and it kept trying to go in a straight line when I needed to angle lower.
Just for clarification, did you start out in water before doing the race? The pitch issue doesn’t go away until you dismount on land then remount on land.
If you had mounted up in a puddle prior, flew to the race to start, you’d have the issue there as well.
This isn’t really anything tech can do, it’s more of a bug. I encourage you to add your post to an ongoing bug report thread. Especially if you are getting it more than just the water take off scenario, the info could prove helpful in getting a fix.
