I’m wanting to start farming this rep. Does a particular quest chain offer more of this rep than the other, or should I just do WQs?
WQs and all the content in zones that you can find will be the most efficient gain. Some rares give rep when you kill them (I think it’s capped at once per mob per day)
You can also turn in artifacts from kits and backpacks if you want to grind it out that way.

Probably waking shore, then I would say Azure span as a second place contender.

Disturbed dirt if you can get to it is by far and large the most common way to get it as they’re everywhere. 15 rep apiece, if you find a good spot you can quickly have 75 rep in about 5 minutes or less.
A quick note, mining will help immensely as some chests later and the dirts can be found in rock sealed caves. You’ll also eventually need anomaly detection from one of the renowns to find hidden dirts/chests.

I just took a screenshot I posted on my guild’s discord:
From the time of the last DMF, to this one (which is unusually short: like 20 days), just by being VERY attentive to Dirt piles, and then just doing day-to-day stuffs, I had 442 Tokens to turn in for rep!
With the DMF buff, that amounted to juuuuust over two fulls levels of rep.
Dirt also gives a huge supply of Primal Chaos.
Dirt also gives a nice supply of 1q potions, which Alchemists need to blow up for mats.
Dirt also has a decent amount of grey items for gold.
It was given a lowly name, and seems an unassuming thing… but these Dirt piles in DF are KEY!!!
If you don’t have 2 Shovels in your packs at all times, you should.

Unfortunately dirt piles (and expedition packs) are the only way to raise rep outside of the bi-weekly WQs after a certain point. I’m 28 artifacts away from maxing Dragonscale, and I’m so tired of hunting dirt piles.
Even more so after unlocking tuskarr tackleboxes, which use the same icon on the minimap as dirt piles, and are far far far more abundant.
Dragonscale Expedition is one of the easier reps to farm. I just haven’t been doing the WQ’s. You can also plant all those flags for 250 rep each.

WQ’s, weekly quests, dragon isle artifacts that are found in disturbed dirt, lost expedition backpacks and magic bound chests.

there are little quests hubs throughout all of the zones
Dumb question, but where do we get more of those shovels? Or, is there an item that has unlimited uses or anything?

This. Definitely this. I have 4 at any time, a nice neat row in my backpack.

If you’re an engineer, dirt also gives you a bunch of engineering mats which can be sold on the AH for a decent chunk.

Dragonscale Base camp. 2 vendors, one in the tent *same one you turn the tokens into for rep. the other is outside the tent next to the Kit you can use to “research” the Dragonscale ‘talents’
The shovels are 15 supplies each, and well worth it. if your going to farm Dirt keep 8+ on hand, and restock often.
the dirt piles and supply boxes give turnins.
shovels are dirt-cheap in AH.
