Dragonriding was such a GREAT design. It's so wonderful

You’re welcome!

I use my Mage as a duel gatherer, and I haven’t had an issue. If two nodes are right near each other I just walk to them, but even while flitting from node to node it’s not that bad. Especially now that each time you gather you get darned near a gem back right away.

I also like taking advantage of the time portal (the drake skill whose name eludes me) if I see a herb on the ground and a herb high up and right next to it. You place the portal and gather the high herb, and then dive down and gather the low herb (and activate the portal). You can then just walk off the cliff and angle down to gain speed and have gained vigor in the end.

Spoken like a true ma.ga.

Dragonriding remains one of the dumbest minigames to be implemented into the system, and TBC Flight remains the superior option unless you need to cross a VAST distance. I swear, some of these dragonriding diehards would have you play QWOP just to move about on-foot, and mind your stamina bar or you’ll get tired and can only RP Walk everywhere!

It’s a bad opinion

Then you are doing it wrong.

Thanks, Guild Wars 2!

I will never go back to regular riding.

You have a right to your misguided opinion of my opinion. Never the less…

I agree with the statement that it means actual playing when flying. That is exactly part of why it sucks so bad. It added complexity to a game already filled to the brim with millions of things to do. I mean you cannot even really quest without wowhead and other apps online to help play. Static flying at least allowed for look-up time. It just made the game more complex, it’s the absolute last thing I desired.

I’ve recently been working on gold medals for advanced dragon races and I’ll tell you right now, the vigor system is surprisingly refined. It’s far from broken or “unfair”.
