I did a bunch of these this morning (2 zones and a half) and in most if not all cases you have incremental rocks you can rest on. With a bit of patience, you can reach each of them, even if you don’t know how to dragonriding.
Now, that doesn’t mean I approve the idea of the glyphs. I think it would have felt much better if you unlocked the perks through questing and story, but it’s not as hard as it might seem initially.
I’ve been having some issues with Dragonriding, but nothing to make me want to leave the game and unsub.
Worrying my spouse who is downstairs WFH (and I am supposed to be, but shh) with my profanities when I can’t reach a glyph, that’s a whole other thing.
You can take off from level ground and climb just fine. It just takes practice at angling and gaining momentum. Collecting all the glyphs is a good way to practice.
I haven’t fiddled with it yet, but there are settings for motion sickness in the options. I can’t say how effective they are.
Cash shop regular flying mounts are fine. They are usable every where else. This is not as big a deal as ppl are making it seem.
They should have just named it dragon gliding, not riding. I don’t like it, but I guess I have to get used to it. Whatever happened to designing to delight your customers. This is more like designing to see what your customers can tolerate.
The dragon’s maneuverability is not great, and I have found a number of nodes in tight hard to reach places and on top of thin pinnacles where it takes a bit to get landed properly. If I had normal flight I could have just zipped right up to them and moved on.
Also, if you’re blazing along at top speed and notice a node appear, it’s often a case of doing a hard u-turn and some hasty maneuvering to get to it. No help if you happened to be too low and your vigor hasn’t recharged yet.
Gathering is definitely NOT a strong point for dragon riding in my opinion.
And yet, a lot of customers are delighted by this design. So which customers are they supposed to design for, cuz you can’t make everyone happy all the time?
Are people really this ignorant? It’s not about being able to get the hang of it. It’s not complicated at all. I just don’t enjoy it so I stopped playing.
It’s basically just a Kirin Tor puzzle, not flying. If you liked the Kirin Tor puzzles then dragon-gliding is for you. If you avoided Kirin Tor puzzles then dragon-gliding is a frustration.
Yah, I did the same and feel your pain. It’s not that its hard or anything, I figured it out but, to me, its just not fun and certainly won’t carry WoD#2. Unfortunately I came to the conclusion that I’m no longer the target consumer. Rainbow skins, dragon wings and androgenous themes just aren’t my thing. I’ve canceled my sub and when it runs out I’m done. 2005 till now, so it’s been a good run. Thanks Blizz for the memories. /cheers
I can tell you did not read the thread and lashed out on the first comment you saw in the discussion that got your attention.
The reality is that people are going to like the mechanics for various reasons, and others will dislike them for various reasons. There is no “one” reason for any of it.
I have no problem with the mechanics, it’s more like why after all time are we adding this? I could see if this was added back in 2.0 and you had to learn to fly your mounts from the beginning.
Flying through hoops started with darkmoon faire, right? So LK. and then we had some hoop flying in MoP. And now 10 years later we have a whole expansion about flying through hoops. like WTF?
It’s sort of like the jumping puzzle dailies they’ve been putting in every expansion lately. The Kirin Tor bubble puzzles, the lily pad jumping, etc. Looks like they implemented “Dragonriding” as a permanent jumping puzzle feature in this expansion. For those of us who only did those if we absolutely HAD to, we just don’t like it. I’ve figured out how to do the dragon-jump-puzzle to reach stuff, I just don’t like it.
In all honesty, how does this affect you in ANY way? Someone flying doesn’t affect your gameplay in the slightest. Why do people make comments like this?
Really? i am sorry but its not hard at all… What on earth are you doing to fail at getting to the top.
Like all you have to do is just flag up 3 times in a row and find a ledge and slowly make your way up. I am sorry but this isnt a blizzard problem this is a L2P problem. Try watch a guide on dragonflying you might be missing skills on your action bar. Do you have any skills on your account bar when flying?
