It really wasn’t incorporated into leveling in either of the expansions you listed. In BC you had to be max level (unless druid) and Wrath you had to be 77. So I guess in Wrath you had it for the last couple levels. I’d hardly say that counts as “incorporated”.
Ah, thanks for the info. Makes sense they would want to see how it’s received before proceeding further. I’ve been talking to a friend about dragon riding and he hopes they don’t put all this effort into a new form of flight and don’t continue further with it.
My thoughts on adding the system to other mounts is that there are numerous mounts where the mechanics wouldn’t make sense. Think anything purely magical, flying horse that doesn’t have wings, gyrocopter, etc… With dragon riding you can’t hover. How do you explain that with the mentioned kinds of mounts? We shall see how it all goes.
If they removed hovering from all mounts it would at least address the complaints from Open World PVP playrers about empty zones. I doubt Blizz would ever risk the backlash though.
Your point is that old travel is not engaging. The same point I am making.
New travel is engaging.
This is a good thing.
I hope they don’t take out the hovering. lol
Speaking of world PvP. Once in a while I’d come across a flagged player hovering way above on their flyer. I’d get above them, dismount and, using my goblin glider, pew pew them as I slowly fell to the ground. Sorry not sorry for the few I did that to. lol
If it aint broke don’t fix it. Level to cap. Give people normal flying.
New travel is a gimmick and time sink. Stop advocating for blizz to waste their time on nonsense systems that last less than 1 expansion. They will at some point have to give everyone flying back.
Push dev time into class design, spec overhauls (cause lordy don’t some of them need it bad), and end game content.
Travel is not something that they should be spending this much time on… It’s clearly just a favorable dev time per added play time ratio vs. them actually making game content which is more costly in terms of dev time…
It’s literally faster.
I feel like they’re going to go with the new flying for a couple patches, then after a bit they will open it up.
This new flying thing ain’t going anywhere. It’s a major part of the expansion and has been boasted many times as being such.
Learn to live with how it’s going to be or don’t play. Not sure what else to tell ya.
Ok. I’ll start walking across the zone and you level dragon riding ability from 0 to max then fly across the zone at 900% speed and see who crosses the continent first.
I won’t even run. toggles walk
guarantee you the whole system is a time sink…
That is why anyone that actually tries the dragonflying actually enjoys it, and its already sparking the debate about continuing it past DF instead of going to the old lazy, slow flying…
You haven’t even seen videos of it lol. That is quite apparent.
Factually wrong. But have at it!
You’ll lose. Badly. Have you seen anyone testing it on Alpha? It’s gotten a lot of positive reception and has been noted as revolutionizing flying.
But, sure. RP walk around… I guess?
Alpha is a fanboy private server…
Sounds like what everyone expected from torghast in beta
You have clearly never played GuildWars 2 where this type of riding/flying system is used for you mounts… You will enjoy it even more when they decide to put player racing in the gaming using the new mounts.
Ah, so you’ve extensively played the alpha and somehow dislike dragon riding even though literally everyone who has tried it thus far says it’s amazing? Good to know.
No. But I wish they would. Btw I noticed you made a few typos so I fixed them for you
But yeah, as far as i can tell they’re doing the direct opposite and making flying even more accessible and more intrinsic to this expansion. Which is a horrible idea. But hey, its probably better than the way it currently is.
Because Beta Torghast was great and there were placeholder gear rewards that we expected to be added once Shadowlands went live.
Everything I’ve seen of alpha footage makes it look like full blown flight, and it can reach something ridiculous like 920% speed if you’re good at it which I think more than makes up for any disadvantages it has vs. old style flight.
