For FF14 is does a little. It’s a different kind of audience than WoW. A lot of FF players are there for the story, and a big part of that is seeing yourself in the story. I can’t speak for everyone, of course, I personally don’t really care for streams at all. Watching someone else’s character play through a game that focuses on you just feels weird. 
Same with the raids though, really. I would rather be playing them than watching someone play em.
The only thing I DO watch stream-wise is the Live Letters from the devs.

The FF14 version of dragons isn’t even a real dragon. It is just a human with a dragon tail / horns and some scales plastered on their face and not real dragons. its like 90% human 10% dragon.
Wut? You know the game has actual dragons in it, right? Like, the first expansion is all dragons lol.

There are only a handful of games that retain viewership on Twitch: League, Valorant, and GTA 5, and probably a couple others that I’m missing.

Why does it really matter which MMO is on top? If you want to play FF14 cause you enjoy playing the game then that really all that is important.

Amazingly, Endwalker has less of a population dropoff than WoW did. Endwalker launch census put the player count at 1.7 million+ with the current one putting it around 1.3-1.4 million. Those are always lowball counts too. Shadowlands had lost almost half the playerbase in a couple months lol.

First, OP - don’t be taken in be shiny things so readily. Any company will always attempt to dazzle the customer in order to reel them in. Be excited for sure, but don’t let it cloud your reason.
Secondly, Eealus speaks true. I bet Blizzard is just doing that to appease certain people, and that they don’t really give a crap about any plights said people may be going through.
Third, FF14 does indeed have housing, whilst WoW’s first attempt at it went horribly wrong and has been much maligned since then. So, there’s that.
Lastly, the amount of controversy between Blizzard and Square is vast. Square may not be squeaky-clean, but they’re better than Blizzard whose history is shameful and disappointing.
