Dragonflight will kill Wrath’s population

Played DF test servers and it’s actually incredibly fun. No borrowed power, old talent trees back, PvP is equalized, more importance on Raids than M+, major QoL changes along with dragons that move and feel incredibly smooth.

Wrath Retail has no LFD from the original game, dungeon farming got nerfed, there will be no XP buff either in 2 weeks essentially killing off old content while they peddle their Lv 70 boosts, they’re also tweaking iLevels and removing professions from Arenas and they have zero solutions on how to deal with bots or RMT GDKPs.

The only reason why TBC Classic succeeded is because Shadowlands was god awful, but Wrath will not be so lucky as DF blows it out of the water in comparison.

When DF drops I will happily move games and not look back as so will a bulk of this player base as most of us Retail players.

Shadowlands had excellent zones and quests (WoW’s overall storyline is generally a bit cheesy, but the zones typically have great stories)

I don’t think Dragonflight will be much different

The class playstyle, unless there’s been a MAJOR revamp, is just a totally different game

Raid or die is going to screw DF tbh. That will change by the first patch.

It really is, you should try getting into the beta and checking it out yourself. I’m having a ton of fun playing it.

Have they reverted mages to their TBC-Cata playstyle or are they still the legion shield gimmick?

That was always expected, the “tourist” bulk will leave.

As long as I’ve got the core of my guild I’m good. The majority of my guildies don’t play Retail and don’t like it so it’s unlikely they’ll dip. After Wrath, if Cata is not a thing that’s ok with me too.

They reverted it, we even get Deep Freeze back.

that’s actually cool. hopefully health isn’t as malleable. hoping the expansion is good, i don’t want to see another legion

There will likely be a dip in activity during DF launch, but it won’t kill or cripple wrath. People will be back around before and during each content phase in wrath.

Shadowlands was horrid. It’s the only expansion i literally couldn’t play because it was no fun. Most people i know quit. Absolute dumpster fire of an expansion.

If df is good, and there is no rdf in wotlk, wotlk will be short lived

I liked it more than Legion and probably more than BfA, oddly enough

Maybe but it will be a short lived visit, I don’t think Wrath Reforged is going to hold as many people as 2008 release. Too much for the original game is missing.

Came expecting a serious post but then I saw who the poster was so I clicked away. Thread muted.

It is pretty obvious that they are going out of their way to release them back to back just in order for one to destroy the other and the have made so many changes to WoTLk that they know it will be WoTLK that will be destroyed.

If Dragonflight can get the people who actually came back to Classic to play it then maybe, but there is still a decent chunk of people who don’t play both.

Again the things listed in the OP won’t make a large portion of those who resubbed for Classic after quitting Retail a long time ago to play Dragonflight. I consider ever one of those things mostly fluff personally. This is at least his second thread on it.

The people who flip-flop around could go back and play Dragonflight exclusively, does that matter for the sub revenue though?

I doubt it, most Classic players are very turned off of retail. I know I wont be buying into anything after WotLK and hopefully a SoM or two of TBC and/or WotLK

I’ll give Dragonflight a chance but I am extremely skeptical.

There’s a lot about retail in general I dislike. The cartoony animations totally change the entire art style of the game, for example, and all the charm from the old world is gone completely. You still have Teldrassil burnt down, the story has become so convoluted that even having played through MoP I have no idea what’s going on anymore because it just throws you into BfA. The new player experience still requires BfA to do Dragonflight content.

I’m skeptical. Wrath is what’s comfortable for me – or it will be when RDF comes.

This is a false idea spread throughout the forums. the Classic forums literally account for like 0.1% of the playerbase. The people here who say they hate Retail are the same ones who wanted Retail mechanics brought into Wrath aka LFG tool.

Wrath Reforged is not the original Wrath, no fan of the original game will play Classic when PServers offer a better Wrath experience for free and DF is infinitely superior.

Except saying that the people who just play Classic of 0.1% is completely inaccurate. You are making that up because you want to believe it.

If I poll my guild of around 35 people maybe 3 or 4 will say they play Retail too.

Blizzard knows the numbers way better than you.

Classic up to Classic Wrath wouldn’t exist if people were content with Retail. A lot of people were playing on pservers because they didn’t want what Retail has become.
