Dragonflight Twitch Drops: Earn The Feldrake Mount Now and Support a Streamer

I just wanted to say thank you, Blizzard, for extending the Feldrake drop by 1 day. That was literally the difference between whether I would be able to earn this drop or not, as I am going to be out of town for a few days with no internet access. If I can’t snag 4 hours of play at some point on December 1st, then that’s on me.

Bro - the vast majority of people on these forums are NOT complaining about this. There’s thousands of people on these forums right now and they’re not all whining about a mount.

They’re reporting bugs. They’re talking lore. They’re discussing raids, Dragonflight, builds, gear.

Get a bit of perspective.

I’m not sure why you’re so upset but collectors usually like to collect everything related to what they are collecting. I’m pretty sure Ichabod will be the only current pet that you can’t use WoW gold to buy (through battle.net balance or gold on the AH). The “this is a video game” logic has been used by trolls for decades. We all realize this is a game. This is a game we play in real life. We can use real money in this game which affects our real life. I also don’t think you’re using the words “compensation” and “entitlement” correctly. I think you are just lashing out at everyone and anyone, which isn’t productive.

“vast majority (if) disagrees” - read the posts more thorougly.
Of course the majority of people on the forums isn’t complaining.

SUPPORT A STREAMER

From November 28 at 3:00 p.m. PST until December 12 at 11:59 p.m. PST, you can also show your support for your favorite WoW creators by gifting an eligible creator’s channel two Twitch subscriptions. Doing so will award you the adorable Ichabod harvest golem pet.

So, I am bit confused about this. Does it mean we have to “pay” Twitch streamers or does the subscription to a channel is free?

Watching for four hours is one thing, but if this one requires you to actually PAY to the streamers then it’s a crappy move.

If paying is not the case then can someone please clarify how to “gift two subs” to a channel thing works?

By using them in your argument you are trying to use that as if they matter more than the people who are ok with it. That is literally how you are using the argument champ

How is it any different than paying Blizz for the pet, just that streamers are actually getting the support too?

I mainly find it unreasonable because we can’t use gold to buy it. I believe if Blizzard sold it for $10 Battle.net Balance and then said they would donate money to streamers, that would be perfectly fine. It seems to be the only current pet that you can’t buy with gold (not including codes from BlizzCon).

Not sure what post you are trying to refer to there, but my argument was obviously regarding the question why people feel discontent with this decision - whether due to the fact they paid a lot of money for the code/card, or because the mount (along the other TCG goods) will heavily drop in value and prestige.

It seems that after more than 2000 comments on this topic people still do not understand the issue here.

If this is implemented then any in game item Blizzard offers in the future, be it for money directly or through subscriptions, can not be trusted to be exclusive to that offer and may be obtained for free later on.

This means that the mounts etc that you are paying for with your 12 months subscription, i.e the one sold right now that was just launched yesterday, can be given for free later on because Blizzard can not be trusted anymore to respect exclusives and special items only available from a timed promotion or license.

But what does it matter…you ask

The issue is that if Blizzard can not be trusted anymore then why give them money now when you can get items later for free? This can and will directly impact the game revenues and you know what that means too. Also the timing of the 12 month offer comes just as the new expansion is launching. In everybody’s book this clearly means that this is an attempt to pad the subscriptions numbers for the launch of an expansion that must be better and bring back subs and reverse a long downward trend.

So what does it say to throw a 12 month offer just before an expansion pack?

It means the numbers will be purposefully skewed so that revenues keep coming even if after 6 months the main city hub is deserted. Personally I don t think this expansion will flop as bad as previous ones but we will see. What bothers me is that now I can not trust Blizzard anymore.

I don t have the feldrake as far as I know but I don t care anymore because I am more worried about Blizzard losing more customers by doing stunts like this and remove exclusivity and rarity of certain items. After 10 expansions why not bring back items that were removed from vanilla? Where is the black AQ mount or the most famous sword? Murky will never be given to people for free because it was sold exclusively for attending the first Blizzcon so you know then that Blizzard is being hypocrite in this decision.

Blizzard had a choice to recolor the drake and the tabard and the other items but instead they decided against and purposefully decided to remove the rarity of items that were sold under license and exclusivity.

To me that is bad for the reputation and trust of that company. I do not trust this new Blizzard anymore. All the good original devs are gone and the only thing left is an Activision boss who is pushing all sorts of cost cutting instead of trying to restore the brand awe and love we all had.

I am afraid that both the obvious subs attempt at manipulation and the reversal of exclusivity show us all that the Blizzard we knew is now gone.

Oh and about the items showing on the BMAH. These are totally fine because we are talking about a single one of those items per month or year not millions so the analogy is flawed…terribly. Selling a single unobtainable item to a single person is fine and I think most people understand that.

Peace

Exactly. It’s also how they’ve done the “pets for giving money to other people” before.

That would be them giving the money to the streamers they choose. As it sits they’re telling us “if you want this pet you need to give money to someone on this list, but it has to be real money, you can’t use the real money that was turned into our money. PS not all streamers will count even if they’re streaming the same thing.”.

Believe it or not, a lot of people play games to have fun. People, in general, that play games can play those games differently than other people playing the same games. If people want to collect achievements, gold, mounts, pets, toys and anything else to have fun, I don’t think that’s a waste of time at all.

and? It has always been that way.

Also always been the case.

Basically your anger is over you misunderstanding the situation then getting mad that you misunderstood and things are different. Are you 12?

Werent a bunch of the TCG items massivly duped in WOD?

You frame this as a problem, im hearing a posative.

Im not interested in holding exclusive shinies over anyone, i hope we all get cool things. If someone gets a mount for free from a promotion that i got 10 years prior and paid for…like it doesnt affect me at all

I agree with pretty much everything this person said, except bringing back vanilla items. I believe the giving-away-of super rare/rare-ish items started with the Bananas pet or the Pandaren Monk pet. I guess since there wasn’t a big enough backlash, they moved on to mounts and toys. At this point, they could give anything away or even sell super rare transmogs.

Nice to start a reply with an insult so I ll bite and respond to the guy who could not find a means to think about a character name without using special characters…something usually reserved for people who are…12 (see what i did there?)

So to answer your one sentence: No it has not always been that way. If it is then provide evidence for it. you made the claim you provide the evidence against it. I mentioned the Murky example that was exclusive the Blizzcon now it is your turn.

Surely you could have imagined a name that did not have special characters couldn t you?

I believe it was Ion who literally said in an interview during the DF announcements that they want to value collectors (especially mount hunters) more when they collect rare and prestigious mounts. Feldrake for free via Twitch drop kinda contradicts that (or at least stands in harsh contrast to that)

Some do, some don’t. Those players deserve to be catered to with exclusive mounts, just as those who want exciting stuff for free.
