Dragonflight Talent Previews - Hunter and Rogue

Hey Blizz.
I don’t think I am the only one here that thinks this, but some of this looks like a hot mess. Firstly, there will always be a set path to take, this is the illusion of choice but in some ways you have gutted class abilities just to make them talents. Things like MD for hunters, Sap for rogues etc, should be baseline, but already become mandatory talents.
While there will be come fun builds, I feel like this will very quickly come down to a case of Wowhead says have this build, must take it or else.
I hope that this is not the final design.

They are definitely not mandatory talents.
You won’t need them for a lot of content.

Illusion of choice isn’t a bad thing, because the alternative is no choice at all. There is no such thing as a perfect balance in a video game, there will always be a more optimal path, the point is to let people play sub optimally if they so desire.

Hello! Good night everybody!
I’m really enjoying the new talent trees and I’m really excited to be able to test and create several different builds, but in the hunter there’s still something I miss, I’d really like to be able to play a hunter from the beast domain with melee combat, but of course without taking away the option of those who still like to attack from a distance with him.
If I can offer a tip for the hunter mastery of beasts specialization, it’s that it becomes a hybrid and the player chooses melee or ranged damage when choosing the first talent of the tree. As I thought? Right in the first skill ‘‘Barbed Shot’’, we could choose this skill or for example, “Barbed Cut”. Choosing the shot would keep the whole tree as it is shown, however, choosing the “Barbed Cut”, we would change the skills (actually it would only change the name, another example, Multi-Shot becomes Multi-Attack) and we would change them to melee, the effects and damage could be the same as already described. And this type of hunter could go back to the root when hunters could use two one-handed weapons (actually they can, but they don’t have skills that can be used with them), in this case one-handed swords and axes and daggers.

That would be an idea. What do you think?

I don’t like the fact arguably the most mainstay SV skill, Serpent Sting, is locked behind level 52 in the class tree lol.

Yes that is also weird. I have to wonder how mythic plus builds will look like missing some key abilities like serpent sting possibly. May just stick to a single target choice.

Like I posted in the CC thread - all they have to do is move Serpent Sting up one space (currently an empty space), putting it in the second tier, rather than third.

This will make Serpent Sting level 34, and give us a better option for the “extra” points we have in the 2nd tier.

Personally I would rather abilities like that be baseline. And have modified abilities be talent options like increased effectiveness of serpent sting, or making it cleave. It’s going to be weird getting used to different builds and having to move your abilties around with the other builds.

Every living, sentient, thing has anima.
It isn’t only available within the Shadowlands.

Same. I’ve made my thoughts on that clear int he last few class threads though, so I just started giving feedback on the assumption they understand my thoughts on core abilities should be baseline lol.

Basically they created another PI situation with doing this, but hey at least its not a single target…at least its party.

Another 10/10 Blizz move, create more balancing kinks

How Explosive shot, Barrage, Chimaera shot work for survival?
Do we swap weapons? can this be used by any weapon like Tranq shot?
Can we use Kill shot with ranged weapons now, or any weapon?
That being said, i like the idea (or the posibility) of building a range SV, or at least an Hybrid Melee/Range SV

Hope so if that’s a reality, it applies to hunters too

you hated.

I like the Anima-Charged mechanic. It’s the one thing that I’ve enjoyed about Rogue int he recent future.

Is the cap on Kidney’s duration in PvP not in effect anymore?

Kidney Shot’s stun effect is now capped at 6 seconds while in PvP combat. Revealing Strike can still increase the stun duration, but not beyond 6 seconds.

I would imagine they’ll reinstate the cap if it’s no longer in place.

Same as survival hunters use kill shot and serpent sting right now, ranged used the hand crossbow.

who at blizz do i have to provide services to for DH to be released next?

Yes yes I get it. It’s still dumb as hell we’re keeping it as a concept in DF though.

Ok I’m ready for shaman and warlock talent previews now. Blizz you have my permission to proceed. No other combination of classes will be acceptable.

Complete dumpster fires. No lie.

Definitely not in effect right now. You can kidney shot a player for 7 seconds in shadowlands at the moment.
