I would say the same, but hey, maybe it’ll have 3 patches, unlike Shadowlands! And whether this was a placeholder or not, that must mean whatever is next will hopefully be worth the wait. A lot of the stuff in DF is actually great, aside from the story which I can’t really properly judge just yet (Though it does feel like a cataclysm rehash)

The fact Azeroth still exists makes this false. We’ve saved her from threats far beyond our means and certainly beyond what the aspects are theoretically capable of.

Blizzard failed to deliver a compelling narrative for why the expansion justifies our collective attention as literally universal heroes. I get they want to try holding their cards to their chest, but this was the wrong time to do it. We absolutely need to be toned down in terms of power so expansions like DF make narrative sense. What we needed was a light vs void expansion or some expansion where we lose and are set back to the stone age, so to speak, and even simply trying to survive and meet basic needs is a task in itself.

Gameplay can be fun. But there’s a difference between Ion making good dungeons and raids and having good narrative and lore. Heck, M+ isn’t even based in the current expansion anymore, 50% of M+ is now non-canon game-play in a box.

My complaint is “Danuser is a hack”.

I feel that WoW needs a simple xpac that is more about world building and updates to systems. Sounds boring but it could be an interesting concept if done right.

They didn’t give up every single iota of their power. They took a major power hit and (if memory serves) cannot birth new dragons going forward, but they’re not completely powerless.

Narrative is not always going to trump gameplay. M+ drawing on older expansions’ dungeons is kinda necessary to keep things fresh and rotating, rather than the same dungeons stagnating in M+ for two years at a time.

Not disagreeing but most of SLs story actually goes back to Afrisabi; ditto BFA. Danuser is responsible for maybe 9.2 and the implementation of 9.1. But the story is pretty much 100% Afrisabi AFAIK. I’m pretty sure he was trying to burn things down on the way out.
