That’s actually a really smart change; props to the big brains who thought of this.
Obviously there’s no way you can have no timer keys in higher keys since that defeats the entire process of doing the key and getting score for it, but for lower keys it doesn’t matter. I don’t think I would’ve thought of that.

But these changes don’t do anything for players currently running 16-22’s which is very far from the top %. No feedback from the masses of players running weekly 20’s is addressed is this post. The only possible good news is that they reference the 8 original DF dungeons which could mean that we won’t have to do DOTI for another season.
There’s too many key levels at the moment that are completely useless and not needed. I’d rather they do a key level squish than up KSM to 20s, and portals to 30s.
Idk, that would be a massive bummer. I assumed theyre just showing DF dungeons because the article has a lot about Heroic and M0 changes, hoping the M+ dungeon pool is different tho
This Dungeon change actually has a really bad repercussion for people looking to complete the Veteran Tier sets (aka the “LFR” tints) in that based on the change, you can’t get Veteran items to drop in dungeons anymore.
New-Heroic drops 4/5 Adventurer gear and rewards Veteran’s gear in the vault. Currently, Adventurer gear can’t be Catalysted into the current season’s Tier.
New-Mythic 0 drops 1/8 Champion gear and rewards Hero gear in the vault. This can be Catalysted into Normal gear, but not into the Veteran’s color variant.
This is going to continue the trend of the LFR gear set being the hardest one to get for the following reasons:
You can’t go in with a team week after week, farming the gear. Meaning you can’t control how many people are rolling against you. (Contrast to other sets, where if you run in a guild people will eventually not need the item you want, increasing your chances every week you run with the same crew.)
We currently don’t know whether any of the World content will reward Veteran’s gear. Currently Superbloom / Dreamseed / Guardians of the Dream Rep give you three random Veteran’s items per week, and the provided chart doesn’t include Outdoor Activities so for all we know this is gone.
Now we won’t be able to farm M+ for items to Catalyst from the LFR set.
This is a major issue to collectors that needs to be solved, imho.
There really was no difference between Normal / Heroic / Mythic 0. Consolidating them is a good change and it still makes Mythic 0 relevant.
Removing the timer on low keys is a very good change. It’ll cut down on toxicity and people just deciding to leave because you had a wipe.
Also, with the key scaling: having less brackets is good. Everything below a <16 feels completely irrelevant on a new season. Having less brackets is less work needing to move up as well. I.E. you don’t need to time all +10s to do +12s then +15s then +16s, +17s, etc. to keep moving up your rating.
I do not like seeing Tyrannical/Fortified is still sticking around. And I do hope that you take a hard look at affixes because I don’t like playing the affix the entire dungeon. Bolstering, Sanguine, and Afflicted aren’t run.
Ah yes, making a bunch of dungeon changes that favors the casual player base when historically you’d just have a 1 year content drought for every xpac before SL = retail falling off.
All net positive changes, my only question right now is how will this affect scores for the upcoming season and beyond? Will scores be roughly the same in that they’ll follow the same sort of track that we have now where a future +10 is the same score as a current +20, or will scores be squished to match the new key scheme? While at the end of the day its all an arbitrary number, it does matter when it comes to the achievements and I as hoping to get some more clarification on what that means. With another question being will mythic dungeons be available day one of each new expansion, or will they not open up until the tier starts with the launch of the new Raid and PvP season given they’ll now award higher level gear?
I will say I am 100% looking forward to being able to spam heroics for a much better set to start with next expansion, and I hope mythic dungeons are available day one as that would be even better to start the tier with.
I’d rather keep DOTI as it adds more variety into the mythic+ pool and rise in particular has mounts and mogs that can drop from it as a bonus.
DOTI really just needs QOL enhancements and mainly more for rise. Namely for teleports to platforms instead of wonky mount riding and, for rise, GY spawns at the most recently accessed platform (maybe with some kind of clickable/interactable thing like mists in SL had).
I’m a “sort of” casual player. Too old and slow to raid top stuff but good enough for LFR and low key mythics and everything else in the game.
They way I see this is now I WON’T be able to do a mythic 0 or +1 and +2 when I want to and be forced to raise my skill level to a +10 mythic by patch time and beyond.
I agree that the quest for 4 mythic 0’s for a higher level piece was kind of a gift. What happens with this quest now? Do I have to do dungeons equivalent to +10’s?
I do not believe I can do that. Actually never tried anything higher than a 7 or 8 but that was years ago.
Maybe someone can explain to me how much the difficulty level has changed from the old mythic 0 to a new one. A +10 scares me
