Dragonflight Season 4 Dungeon Changes Ahead

That part of the loot table looked wrong to me. No where did they say the vault loot was changing to be lower than the end of dungeon box. Unless someone has other info on it…

Currently playing SoD religiously. Lead multiple raids, 4 level capped raiding characters with a 5th on the way, WSG Exalted x3, raptor mount etc.

Fantastic game. The population drop its seeing phase 2 is sad but it’s a joy to play. I don’t live in fear of the developers destroying it the way I did when I played Retail.

As long as you’re fixing things and changing numbers, please consider the biggest quality of life help for the most glaring problem with Mythic Plus…

There’s an M0 level and a M2 level, but no M1. Why are we skipping right over +1???

PLEASE FIX THIS, MY OCD CAN’T HANDLE THIS MUCH LONGER!!

It’s probably not going to include DotI. Most likely the 10.0 dungeons.

pats you on the head gently It’s like me playing Lock on Afflicted weeks… I feel your pain entirely.

Changes like this probably kill the chance for S4 in April. This is something that will have to sit on the PTR for a while.

Ya, that looks like a better description.

So normal heroic and mythic zero now take the place of the normal to +10 difficulty ranges?

Oh I see. Scaling previous +10 rewards down to un-timed content.

These are great changes. I still think the M+ reward system needs an overhaul, but people have been asking to make M0 queueable for a long time, which this effectively does. More accessible higher difficulty content will get more players to try end-game 5 man content that opted out previously because they didn’t want to do timed dungeons.

It also allows people to catch up to a higher gear level via queueable content without having to spam and be spam rejected from dozens of M+ dungeons in the premade group finder.

Structural changes to dungeon difficulty are fine, and I’m sure more casual and less social players will like this stuff. But these have zero changes to the actual gameplay loop and design. It’s in essence just shifting the borders around.

Affixes are not fun. I want to play the dungeon, not the affix. Affixes should exist as a single seasonal affix which has a balance of kiss and curse. Providing flavor for the season while putting emphasis on dungeon mechanics. Afflicted is not fun. Incorporeal is not fun. Sanguine is not fun.

All of the affixes are not fun. Does any player see a set of affixes in a given week and think about excitement to do them? The only excitement derived from seeing affixes is “Aww sweet, the affixes are a joke this week, now I can think less about them.” The answer isn’t to nerf affixes. The answer is to either create ones that feel rewarding to engage with or DELETE THEM.

Having no reward incentive to grind score above 2500 is not fun. I gear up my character in three weeks and then my power progression is over, along with achievements. To some that’s a plus. To me it’s a reason to not play the game.

MMO’s and RPG’s are fun to me as a way to explore power fantasy. I want to make my character better in meaningful ways. Raising my item level so that my character sim goes up isn’t adding to that power fantasy. You know what did? Artifact weapons! leveling those up will remain the most fun I’ve ever had. I am not proposing they bring back AP, but this change from borrowed power systems to…zero systems feel like such an overcorrection.

Like hell, random idea: Let us get our embellishments and then allow us to power them up through the content people like doing. As you feed flight stones into them, they become more attuned to the piece of equipment, becoming more powerful.

Im not proposing they should actually do that. It’s a random idea. I just want more interesting ways to become stronger besides getting a higher item level piece of gear with stamina Main Stat and two Secondaries. Oh boy! I sure can’t feel these numbers, but the sim goes higher!

The framework DF has provided to the game has been wonderful, but as each season goes on, I have felt DF has become hollow. Its missing the meat to fill that solid framework. But perhaps I’m just the crazy one.

If you read anything Blizzard, please, just make radical and wild changes to m+. It’s time to take this shell that Legion established and really turn it on its head. Please. Dont be afraid to make risky changes. Be bold!

This is what I’ve been saying lol

I am so unnecessarily hyped for this season 4 just due to this change lol

Nonsense. Either you want the game to be massive and successful or you want it to shrink to one that only caters to elite competitors, who will always be a minority among gamers.

I hope they give the DF dungeons a fix before they shove it in our faces.

  • Nokhud Offense: last boss needs to stop double hitting and 1 shotting people
  • Halls of infusion needs the graveyard to move with the player progress
  • The Azure Vault needs some visual improvements for the swirlies on the rings
  • Ruby Life Pools needs to have something to properly indicate the wind directions before it happens. Relying on north/south without a single point of reference through WAs just sucks.

Honestly not looking forward to this season… We still got fort/tyr, we still got incorp/afflicted, and the DF dungeons have been disappointing at best.

Im looking forward to completing a M0 Dawn of the infinite

or its going to be worse because they dont want to spend 2 hours trying to carry someone who has no idea what they are doing through a key. i mean its bad enough as it is this just makes it worse in my eyes. just wait bet one of the first complaints is. why dont they punish people for leaving keys. just over all making climbing keys feel worse.

The one thing I liked about Shadowlands -shivers- is that they had Seasonal affixes that "buff"ed the group in some way or changed the routing based on percentage. Something different each season made it worthwhile to chug through the dungeons again and again. It was great doing a big pull while at the end getting a mega DPS buff while going into a boss. Oh, how I wish they would bring that back. I have to admit that having the same affixes is making me bang my head on the keyboard out of boredom. And it doesn’t help that we have a re-run of dungeons in S4 with nothing new to go along with it. No new affix. No season “buff” affix. Nothing. I might not be a part of this season very long because of it.

You do need to take in account they’re going to adjust the dungeon scaling formula. Also, you’ll get higher iLvl gear from doing Heroics then you do currently.

A +10 is about a a +85% scaling modifier currently which they will likely reduce. With the new M0 you aren’t getting any affixes nor a timer because if you did a +10 now you’d get 1 affix and a timer.

Also, the whole 1-9 key bracket was just completely dead weight. If you can do +5s you can quite easily do +10s.

It also makes it less grindy needing to push up your IO score at the start.

As someone who has not made dungeons in this expansion beyond those necessary for history/quest because of the fervent hatred I have for M+, this change is appreciated, it makes making dungeons have value, contrary to what it is now, which is useless.

they still will be useless past the first season. hate to tell ya, they are just making climbing keys feel worse

I would agree, there are fundamental problems with game play from spec and encounter design.

In BfA, running 10’s socially with guild casuals was a fun nightly experience. Now the casuals don’t really want to and neither do the load lifters.

Not having the escape valve of previous dungeons doesn’t help.

Could Blizzard please clarify which dungeons are represented in Season 4?

Normal, Heroic, and Mythic 0 versions of the Dragonflight dungeons were available each season regardless of which dungeons were selected for the pool. This key level squish doesn’t make an explicit statement and is rather ambiguous.
