Dragonflight Season 1 Rated PvP Rating Discussion

All they have to do is make it known what % is required for the glad mount and then have an ingame system that shows you what % you’re at.

That’s very difficult to do without having seasons have a set duration which they constantly refuse to do.

Let me fix this for you. Players chose the racials that were obviously better.

Okay, when does this kick in? Only at the end of the season like it was before? If so, we’re just back to people waiting until the last 2 weeks to push like they still do with r1. If not, do you get glad the first week at 1800 because you’re technically in a top %?

Not to mention, every social benefit in the game is based off CR. Like it or not. And people never get into nuance when discussing past xp. Yet another reason having consistent ratings across seasons is preferred.

It is difficult with their built-in inflation system. If they moved to a built-in decay system instead it would be much easier.

There’s literally 0 way to prevent this from happening without it being toxic for the game.

Oh they absolutely do. You tell someone you’re a glad but only have wrath glad xp and haven’t even broken 1600 in years and nobody will care.

Rating decay feels absolutely awful and shouldn’t be a long term solution.

According to whom? The way to prevent it is to have consistent ratings across seasons.

“I’m 3k xp” is the end of the discussion. It doesn’t matter that 3k xp in season 9 was duelist or not.

So does being 1k rating below where you were a single season ago for a majority of the next season.

this is most peoples life because mmr is broke. If you look at the average player above 2100 they got their with some really good luck on lobbies but their overall games is not that high. Anyone with 150+ games is stuck at 1400-1600 mmr because its impossible to climb out of with maybe 10 rating increase with 4 wins but lose rating at 3-3. If you go 3-3 your mmr takes a hit most of the time even though you broke even on rating

Common sense.

It isn’t.

One’s a hurt ego and the other makes it feel awful for taking a break. It’s very obvious which ones more toxic to the game.

best fix is once the community is 50/50 with the same average skill level we remove racials 100%. Offer free changes and people play what they want

So common except when the thousands of players are fighting against it, I guess.

It is. That’s why they made that change in BfA  . Now they just need to refine it better.

A hurt ego is being hard-stuck duelist when you were glad in the past. Being in challenger ratings with recent gladiator experience is an objectively broken system. If you disagree you’re wrong.

Eorc is just trying to rile everyone up. Flag his post.

Shuffle and organized arenas are competing for the same players, that much is obvious. The time spent in LFG and effort/relational investment required to find and form cohesive teams was a major barrier to entry for a lot of players, especially those who require a bit more love and support. Giving those players the ability to queue shuffle by themselves and not have to deal with LFG is what has left the regular arena bracket where it is, low participation with a higher percentage of those remaining being highly experienced players.

Ultimately, unless they just decide to turn shuffle off, this problem isn’t ever going to fix itself, and I think that I speak for a lot of people when I say that we do not want shuffle turned off. The decision will have to be made as to whether organized arena is even worth trying to save in lieu of shuffle’s popularity. There’s really no reason why regular arenas can’t have the same element of solo queueing as shuffle. Give a dropdown or menu of specs you’re willing to queue up with and push the button. Leave it wide open if you want fast queues, be pickier if you’re willing to wait in queue longer for a specific comp. This removes the same barriers for players that shuffle did, and makes regular arenas more accessible. It’s really just a streamlined, updated LFG function.

Fair. I’ll stop feeding the troll.

What about real incentives for healer in solo shuffle? It’s like I’m getting my behind beaten for minimum wage right now.

I couldn’t agree more. They need to remove most of the rewards from the CR system. Play for fun is great, but I hit a rating wall on my main, couldn’t break it for a few days and the fun was gone. Then I found PvE actually has progression that doesn’t punish you for hitting a wall, so long as you keep trying you move up, get valor, get whatever. Now I run M+ and have a great time. PvP in wow is amazing but only when it doesn’t feel punishing.

Thousands in what way? Also that’s a drop in the bucket for the total playerbase.

They made the change in BFA because they have no idea what they’re doing half the time.

If you’re hard stuck duelist you weren’t actually a glad or are washed. Either way it’s a you issue.

The system is flawed but even if it wasn’t this would still happen a fair amount. People just FOTM reroll to chase an easy glad and don’t know what they’re doing.

You live up to your name.

Disagreeing with you isn’t trying to rile anyone up.

That’s harassment.

I could say the same for you.

It’s been said before, but more players would probably continue to push rating past 1800 if there were protection zones, similar to what you did with Hearthstone, where, say, if you reached 1800, you couldn’t drop below it.

Such protection zones would also mitigate the paid booster / twitch smurfing issues somewhat (they could still make alts to get around the restriction).

Creating a floor every 100 CR would definitely help. Who cares if everyone can get an achievement with enough effort. It’s a video game.

What an awful idea.

It wouldn’t and it would just absolutely nuke the ladder as people pay for boost into these protection zones and then don’t have the skill level required to actually stay there but also can’t fall out of it.

It wouldn’t.

Plenty of people do.

Super fried logic.

If your ego is so closely tied to your ranking in a niche aspect of a niche game, I think you need to talk to someone. Why does someone else’s ability to get a cosmetic/achievement/mount bother you? What’s going on big guy?

Fixed that for you.

It doesn’t bother me. Why does it bother you that you’re too awful to get them without handouts?
