I might be reading this wrong but it sounds like DF wasn’t supposed to be released when it did.

Here’s the tweet if you don’t want to read the whole chain.

That is what the tweet says…but what that really means is hard to say. I can’t imagine the game surviving for too much longer if we were still stuck in SLs waiting for DF at this point.
In theory, they worked on DF for at least 2 years. I wonder what the original expected development time was if that was considered releasing it “early.”
ofc it did…they’ve been forced to release these early for a lonnnnnng time now
Did anyone doubt this? The game isn’t finished by any means. Nor was SL and BFA. This is what happens when marketing takes over and when you use your beta as marketing tools instead of testing grounds.
Beta wasn’t marketing and also it is a testing ground and they were still testing the game but sure say whatever you want and think that alpha and beta aren’t test.
During beta there were many feedback loops and many changes to talents and feedbacks were listened to and acted upon and bug fixes came after the talent tree phase. To think they weren’t using beta to test is a big accusation I had beta access and I saw many changes and many improvements and many feedback/suggestions listened to.
Comparing dragonflight to Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands when Dragonflight doesn’t have those other controversial features and this time around is different. So, sure keep on believing that dragonflight is somehow the same thing as those expansions when it’s not.
That’s all you took away from the tweets? Not the insidious Activision employee policy?
I’m not disputing that Activision isn’t wrong, I’m just showing that it was confirmed that DF was released early.
By one person on Twitter…
That one person being a dev who worked on it means I’ll take his word for it. If he were lying about anything, Blizz’s bloodthirsty lawyers would have already demanded he take it down.
If he was a credible source he would have an NDA to preclude him from talking about such detail publicly.
You do realize part of quitting means you can literally walk out and sign nothing, right?
Bad wording basically they’re forced to release expansions within certain time frame ready or not pretty standard in the game industry how you end up with a ton of unfinished triple A titles being released.
Whatever. It feels finished to me that’s all I care about.
Early on they say they made the thread cause it’s public knowledge now and therefore its no longer protected by the NDA.
Correct, Non-competes with NDAs are agreed upon during employment, not after you quit. Very standard business practice.
And every NDA is different. Good chance the things he said slip through the cracks, especially if the NDA has never been updated since he was hired. Or, he could just not care. Either way, Blizz or Acti would have shut him down already if they could. Best part is he’s not the only one talking, as he points out the Bloomberg story never involved him, he was never contacted or consulted, so someone else is happy to talk and their stories coincide.
Beta was absolutely the way they have marketed BFA, SL, and DF. It is a lot cheaper to invite content creators to play your beta than it is to hire say… Chuck Norris to make a commercial.
I have no idea why you feel the need to stick up for a company that has sold you a product that wasn’t ready to be played (per that manager’s tweet) and treats their employees poorly (per that manager’s tweet), but have at it. It’s your money that was wasted.
And probably would if he were credible.
SL was always meant to be a story in three acts and that’s why there was certainly no cut content at all, nope, not at all, not pulling a WoD with this one, No-sir-ry-bob, not this one, story in three acts, definitely, no missing raid tiers here.
