A majority of the player base has been asking for player housing for some time now. Not really sure where you have been.
I didn’t post 6 hours ago and the forums don’t represent the WoW population. It doesn’t even represent the majority of the population.

Agreed that ESO player housing is better than FF14 player housing but the fact of the matter is both games have managed to develop a working player housing system while Blizzard completely ignores it, I believe that was the point they were trying to make not whose is better.
I think the problem on that end is the dev time needed and manpower. Unless you have a seperate dedicated team building it over the course of a couple years seperate from the core WoW dev team, you would have to stem devs over to build it.
Remember we lost a raid tier for garrisons, imaging housing
I NEVER want to kill a raid boss … for a couch.
I think it was Wildstar (??) that had a good player housing system, but I only played Ws for about a day. Someone else would have to comment-- someone that I trust to be objective about player housing.
Because for my money, I have only ever seen it be a COMPLETE waste of time. I have never once heard a description of a player housing system and said “oh wow yeah! That would be so GREAT for the overall game!!”

Well you wouldn’t have to if they adopted the system a lot of games have. Decorations would be BoE and there would be many, many other couch options that don’t require a raid boss kill.
Spooky houses?
Guild houses?

This is how I’ve heard every discussion about this topic:
Game1: It’s great. No it isn’t blargh! It’s great! No!
Game 2: It’s great! No it isn’t, blargh! It’s great!! No!!!
Game 3: Most other games are so-so, but this game did it right. Yeah, it was great in this game. Yep! It was great in this game. Only version of PH that was done right.
Game4: It’s great! No it wasn’t, BLARGH!! It’s great! NO!!
…I just can’t remember which game was “game3.” I think it was Wildstar, but would need others to confirm.
I’m open to the IDEA. Don’t get me wrong. I just have a knee-jerk reaction because (sic) 50 games have TRIED it, and only ONE has done it right.
And I’m supposed to trust BLIZZARD to do it right??? Maybe the Blizzard of 20 years ago, sure. But certainly not today’s Blizzard. lol
Housing, the potential to collect furniture throughout all of the content in all of the expansions, as well as the level of self-expression contained in housing, well, on de long run I prefer Housing.
I mean honest you are kinda right, I only have a room becuase my FC has a big house and single rooms aren’t super expensive. And both FF14 and ESO have that issue of high cost housing with a lotto added in for 14. I don’t know how SWTOR’s works so I can’t comment there. I think most people assume wow housing would just be everyone getting a house and not some gold sink system that caters to the upper echelons of gold makers.

Yeah, honestly this expansion is looking like the final nail in the coffin for Blizzard.
In the past, I would have said such a statement, previously stated, was dramatic, but this expansion looks horribly produced. I think Blizzard knows this which is the reason they bought that huge game studio quickly, but I don’t think it will save them. None of these people have experience in game design, and Blizzard just keeps employing new graduates/horrible designers and expects the same results when they did have talented game designers.
WoW is actually dead.
Fortunately, there’s a ton of creative/fun MMORPGS out there now.

Also, I wasn’t talking about PH in particular when I responded to the OP. It was more about the mentality that hears “we’re going to listen more to player feedback” and presumes that means they’re going to act on everything they hear.
