Dunno. Maybe.
Dragonflight isnât bad, and WoW is currently in a better spot than it has ever been and most folks will in good faith say this
So why are folks leaving? The same reason folks have been leaving since essentially Mists of Pandaria ⌠WoW is getting older and older, and folks donât have an interest in playing it anymore
Shadowlands was a bad expansion, but the game was still in a relatively healthy position - how are these two compatible? Because the health of the game doesnât necessarily translate to a good gameplay experience, the same way that a combined good state of the game and and good gameplay experience doesnât correlate to a desire to play a game
This is why Dragonflight is performing âpoorlyâ by folks who equate the gameâs current state to that of 20 years ago - its an unfair comparison that has no basis in reality, because the game has just simply gotten old, and for some people a new lick of paint doesnât drive one to log in and play every single day and do stuff and⌠that will eventually mean folks turn to other activities, for some that means raidlogging becomes more prevelant, others they find other interests in a game, or some just stop completely
âDragonflight is damn good! ⌠but I donât want to play WoW right nowâ would be a more accurate title
Point to where I said I need people to like what I like.
Iâm not saying anyone is pretending to like something, Iâm just saying they are pretending what they like is actually good. They are huffing copium if they think the game is objectively good as a whole right now.

sure thang, hoss
âagree with me or youre pretending you dontâ
lmaoâŚdudeâŚthis the worst case of joke semantics Ive seen in years.
Youve earned the ignore you just got.
Classic⌠No room for argument.
For my game, DF is in the top two favorite expansions to date, when I look at the content of the entire game.
At some point we just burn out from playing too much, assuming we are playing too muchâŚand I have been since DF beta.
Love the expansion and played it so much that my eyes are bleeding. lol.
One doesnt play a game THAT much if they are just âpretendingâ that DF isnt as bad as BFA and SLs.
I hated both of those expansions. And Im loving DF.
Contrary to the âyoure lyingâ accusations of a couple posters, Im 57 years oldâŚbeen playing video games since the 70s when they became a thing and I KNOW by now what I LIKE and dont need to be told by some one who is a bit disgruntled on the interwebs what I like or not.
PVP is pretty solid. Save for that Ret Paladin failure.
I loathed SL but friends were playing so I kept going until the usually drop off happens. I just recently resubbed to WoW, leveled to 70 and found my self drifting back to my classic characters.
I enjoyed my time while leveling but I have no desire/urge to play WoWâs endgame content anymore. It all just feels the same with a different coat of paint. Even though Iâve leveled through the classic zones several times I get more enjoyment from the old stuff than I do anything new.
It might be because while my friends are still technically playing theyâre spending more time on diablo, which is fine but it highlights the issues I left in the first place again. Times like this I wish there was just a different sub to classic WoW
There is no way retail WoW has more than 200k subs, half of those are also bots
I find DF to be an odd expansion. The stories, both major and minor are simply not compelling to me. I really donât care that the primalist are ready for round two to contest the titansâ view of reality. Weâve simply had three consecutive expansions of âso whatâ final villains. In BFA and to a much lesser extent, in SL, the secondary villains could be interesting. Not so if DF. I have yet to get myself to put an alt through the Baine centaur questline.
On the other hand, for a solo casual, getting geared for open world play is easy and comes as it is needed. Iâm finding the expansion is alt friendly, especially if a lot of the leveling comes from not having to follow the leveling zones. I have one character maxed on on rep and the alts ignore the rep grind.
I have cut back on the hours I play and that has helped avoid burnout. Right now Iâm having enough fun to keep playing three days a week. I end my play sessions with a feeling I still have more I want to do and that feels good.
At this point Iâll probably stay subscribed unless Blizz pulls something incredibly stupid (to me) with opening up regular flying.
The peak of villains was Wrath, thatâs for sure, but that doesnât mean all the others were irrelevant.
In the past expansions weâve had to defeat villains that have been in the lore for a while. We know about them, theyâve been part of the story for a while.
Gulâdan, Kil Jaeden, Nâzoth, Azshara, Garrosh. Even Sylvannas, for all that one might not like the turn of her story, is hardly a nobody we just meet to defeat.
Thatâs what I meant with my post. DF, for all that I love this expansion, has completely forgettable villains. Even captain Nipples felt a little more important to defeat.
Sarkareth and Raszageth feel completely replaceable with any other villain.
You seem good with numbersâŚ
Same here, although I actually really liked BFA and I honestly think it got a worse rap than what it deserved - but I do get folks getting tired and burned out, but I still liked the expansion and rate it quite highly (but I also know why; for me, thematics is incredibly important to be able to enjoy something - you nail the theme and its a theme I like and I will at worst merely like it)
I think if you remove 90% of the systems/azerite/etc, Id actually have liked it.
CorruptionâŚjust ugh. I tossed every piece of gear that even dropped with that crap on it. Absolutely hated it.
It felt like the expansion itself might have had a chance if not for all that cereal filler annoyance.
Look at trends, youtube views, twitch views, forum posts etc. Nobody cares about the game.
Itâs not that good though. I was subbed to shadowlands the entire xpac. Iâve barely been subbed at all this expac.
hey why are you bringing reddit here
This repeated punch to the gut feels so good i donât want it to happen anymore.
My sub runs out tomorrow (I think, maybe the day after). Im not planning to renew, though I might. As of now the sub is cancelled. I dont blame dragonflight specifically though.
Personally im just done with the game. Ive played it since vanilla. Mostly as a âhardcoreâ raider. I no-lifed the game for an embarrassing amount of time. For several expansions on and off over the years. Now whenever I come back, its mostly to scratch that WoW itch. See the new stuff. Its a tourist trip. If anything DF kept me around longer, since I could get a lot more out of it as a casual player than previous expansions.
I will say this though. DF is good. Its got some solid systems and changes that I really enjoyed. The story, the characters, the voice acting, the zones⌠all boring. Especially the zones. Being out in the world is so boring compared to BFA (I loved BFA, fight me).
If they took a lot of these really solid innovations and put them into an expansion that was truly inspired it would be a huge hit. You can tell they were really trying to play it safe with this one and I think the game suffered for it. People like it, but they got bored.
the expansion is decent, like decent fast food. the place is beautiful, the quest and lore are decent, but again the last 2 expansions were written by edgy amateurs who had a friend that put them in their jobs for the company, or at least that feel like it was
but the mess of crafting system and the RUSH feeling because now everything is mythic plus, feels bad. idk but the most fun time to heal was back in pandaria.
